3.6 C2 ownership thread

Yes but you would only remove it if dropping an engine .. what are you up to ?

Bottom bolts .. 18 / 16 mm undo and remove .. top bolts slacken off then a bit of levering side to side will get it out ... slides downwards basically .. Oh brace bars removed of course .

Take note of the direction .. it has to go back the same way .

Thanks for the reply.

I've SORN'd the car for Winter, not everyone's choice I know but it's not a daily runner, I'm gonna do some cleaning underneath, have the alloy parts vapour blasted, suspension refresh, new brakes etc

I sold the car pictured in my link after doing all the work bar paint myself , then bought the 997 , I like stuff to be clean and it gives me something to do during the day, retired.

Great job on the 924!

Can I ask where did you get your parts vapour blasted?

Cheers

Ok :)

One thing i forgot to point out which you may already know but better to be safe .... do it on axle stands and NEVER drop the car back on its wheels without the brace bar being fitted .

That would be bad .. very bad ...

Did i mention that would be bad ?

Thanks Demort, the car is up on stands and probably will be for the foreseeable , I'm guessing to drop the car with no rear beam in will see a bit of twisting, certainly no plans to do so anyway.

I'm also giving thought to taking the driveshafts off and removing all the cables etc then dropping the suspension units out as complete assemblies along with the alloy chassis side members, apart from requiring a full geo set up afterwards is there any hidden snags ?

Looks like 3 large bolts into the chassis via rubber mountings and 3 strut top nuts.

Cheers

Hi Jay, just a small local firm that specialise in classic car work, dropped my first batch of parts there today.
