Front numberplate

Hi all

Just a quick question re front number plate. I recently got added to the Porsche classic register and got these horrible number plate surrounds fitted front and rear. They're good for the rear but look unseemly up front to say the least.

I've taken it off and was then wondering whether I could try something else as my front plate just conveniently happened to come off.

Anyone use a stick on plate or a shorter plate at the front? Some pics attached for reference. Seems to me that best way forward would be a shorter stick on plate without the GBJ and crest gubbins (not required over here).

Hi pierrebear,

I have a shortened plate front and rear, I trust this link will be helpful:

Some have gone for a stick on plate per below:

That's really helpful. Thanks, chetman. I'll go back to the others on the stick on thread to see where they got theirs from.

I bought mine from craigsplates.com and went for a 25% reduction in size but kept the original style font and reflective background. Comes with great instructions to fit and the quality is excellent. :thumb:

Ran my 996GT2 without a front plate for three years and never got pulled. My previous 993 ran a stick on plate for two years and this one is doing the same.
Seems the fine Police men and women in North Yorks have better things to do. :thumb:

Yep they are more interested in bikers :cop:

I've thought about no front number plate.... obviously it's illegal, but looks so much better. What are the consiquences of no plates, slap on the wrist and told to put it on, a fine, points ?

Fixed penalty but fortunately not endorsable (no points).

Any advice on what to do with the two ugly holes in the bumper? Was thinking I would just cover them with a stick on but there must be a better solution.

In an ideal scenario, fill or plastic weld and then paint.

I added Bumper Plugs ordered from the US in the correct paint code. Stupidly expensive for what they are but fitment is perfect.
