Hi all,

Insurance renewal due at the end of the month and I have two *wildly* different quotes - I'm the first to admit that it is comparing apples and pears though so don't shoot me down just yet. The question is which one you would go with out of the two for a 993...

1. Normal 'market value' policy with NFU Mutual (book value of £50k but I gather that's not worth the paper its written on?). Under £400 premium for the year.

2. Agreed value policy with Zurich (value of £65k backed by PCGB valuation). Just over £1,000 but fully comp, no tracker, no mileage restriction :D

What are your guys views? Is the agreed value worth its weight in gold / should I just go with a normal policy and pocked the difference?

Thanks in advance,

PB

Call classicline and get agreed value etc for a more competitive price.

+1

Unless they don't do Channel Islands :?:

Unfortunately, Classicline is no good. Has to be a secondary car and with restricted mileage.

I have heard positive stories about NFU policies paying out. No first hand evidence though.

When comparing I try to establish which local garages/body shops are on their approved list and whether I would be happy with a repair to my p&j done there. Also checkcriteria regarding recovery distances to your preferred place.

I've used Aviva for the last couple of years for that reason.

Try ManningsUK. They've done wonders for me since arriving in the country. I have no tracker and I think 5k p.a. agreed value

You can slso consider Locktons. They are specialists and acknowledged by Porsche Club GB. Will work to agreed valuation.

+1 for Locktons. I used them for my 964 - very competitive price. They were happy to accept valuation provided by my local indy who maintained the car.

Sorry guys I should have said...most classic policies aren't feasible as the 993 is my only car, doesn't live in a garage at night and gets driven every day (around 9k miles per year).

My philosophy is that we might as well drive the cars that we've worked so hard for. Unfortunately, Insurance companies aren't so keen on the idea!
