Hi guys, just registered after about 10 attempts trying to read the non-robot code!

My name is Dan and I'm looking to buy a 911 next April/May for summer.

I'm attracted to them due to the looks & performance etc and the 2+2 seating is a huge bonus as I have a 7 month old boy. I've previously owned a C63 AMG Merc but currently stuck with a family wagon since the Mrs gave birth (a VW Tiguan!).

So, plan next May is she is keeping the Tiguan (we have 2 other kids) and I can have a 911 which can be used by me or on the weekend her boy is away at his Dad's.

My budget is 75k and I'm still learning about the 911 models/years etc. I would like the most recent model (991 if I'm correct?). Would I be better off getting a year or two old 991 or a 3/4 year old 991 4S?

Any insight into the difference etc much appreciated too.

Thanks

Welcome Dan!

Your wife gave birth to a VW Tiguan? :floor:

Personally I would go for an older 991 as it will be a naturally aspirated engine, as opposed to the new turbo engines. Yes the new ones are more powerful but don't sound as nice.

Thank you for the welcome!

Just re-read that and looks like she did indeed give birth to the Tiguan - how unfortunate!

When you say a older 991 are you thinking perhaps 12-13 plate kind of range? S or standard?

Welcome Dan,

That was my budget too. I went for a 997.2 turbo. That was 3 years ago and I think it's still about 75k.
No regrets at all. Amazing car. 75k will get you all sorts of loveliness.

Enjoy the search :thumb:

That kind of motor is what I'm looking at so good to know I'm on the right track.

Here's one I've had my eye on (9 months too early but I like to look)

or a "non S" model like this

Thoughts?

Thank you. It was a toss up between the new C63, a 911 or pushing up a bit to a Db9.

I've had a C63 and think the Db9 is slightly 'Granddad-dy' if that makes sense. So now the homework on 911's begins for next May.

The "non-s" car is a newer 991 with the Turbo engines, whereas the 4S is a N/A 3.8 engine. Drive both versions and see which you prefer. I'd personally go for the 4S.

I drove past my local OPC and there were only SUV models on the forecourt. I'd consider trying to purchase during the cooler months to save a few pennies whilst they focus on flogging the SUV range on, if you can.

Interesting thought process. I did that a few years back with my c63 and purchased in January just garaged it til April. Think I got it about 3k under forecourt price and 5k below majority similar were listed on auto trader.

Unfortunately the timing isn't right this winter with money tied up in home improvements etc

Hi Dan.

:welcome: to 911uk

With a £75k budget I'd be making a cheeky bid on this

=> http://www.nineexcellence.com/porsche-sales/sales-991rk65.html#

or next spring I'd be looking for something very similar.

Happy Hunting. :thumb:

Very similar kind of car to what I've been looking at. A carrera 4S auto. Can I ask the years of the 991 and when it changes to 991.2 and any significant changes which would make you opt for either over the other?
