hi all
ive had a couple of 911's a few years ago, and now considering a Gen 1 2.7 manual
ive actually seen a car that sounds pretty good as follows and was wondering about peoples opinions -
2008
silver, with 18" S wheels from Factory
twin tip polished exhaust from factory
Xenons from factory
Leather sports wheel from factory
Heated std seats from factory
top tint screen from factory
stainless side sill plates from factory
NO BOSE
no other buttons apart from the std PSM
car does look pretty immaculate, but i haven't driven it yet

2 owners from new, sitting at 83k
1st service was Official Porsche, then 2 x Oil changes at BOSCH service centre, then 2 x other services at Porsche specialist in glasgow
ive checked and it hasn't had a clutch or the rads replaced
its from an independent UK garage (non specialist) who bought it from the local Official Porsche Centre and is available at £12k - he has had it 6 months and it started at £14k
looking in the classifieds, it seems to be priced pretty well

thoughts???

many thank

Jim , sounds like you might win a decent car , you must get a PPI and borescope done on it so you know alls well . I would also during negotiations factor a new clutch and flywheel as they wont have much left at 83k that would be about 2k so given alls good with the ppi 10/11k sounds right and you get the clutch etc sorted when it needs it. :thumb: :thumb:

thanks for the help Phil
is a bore scope necessary on the 2.7?
i thought it was only the 3.4's?
also, the £2k you quote, is that at the OPC or an indy?

I owned a 2008 cayman a few years ago with a very similar spec. It was a fantastic car. I had a parrot Bluetooth fitted at halfords which enabled music streaming and calls from my phone.

It sounds like it has a good service history as the annual oil changes are not on the service schedule but the previous owners have done so anyway, perhaps due to use.

I had a trouble free ownership, for 4 years with the car being my daily. It also started my live affair with Porsche.

I only heard of bore scoring after I joined this site in prep for buying my 911, and while it is a real thing, the 2.7 is relatively safe. Because its a Porsche, some maintenance can be costly and after 85k miles things may need updating such as suspension, corrosion underneath etc so personally I'd go for the PPI.

The price seems good too, and unlikely you will lose any money on that either, assuming all checks out.

Jim, As Nige says the 2.7 is a very low risk of borescore but if you were having a PPI its worth getting it scoped just so your sure, but then I had my gen2 997 borescoped to the amusment of the selling dealer but I just wanted to be sure .
the 2k was indy for both the flywheel and clutch half the cost was labour and bloody VAT :thumb: :thumb:
