Hi guys, my 997.1 has developed a ticking which appears to originate from the component arrowed on the pic. Could anyone tell me what it is and whether its an easy fix?

That would be the Evap valve (fuel tank vent valve from the carbon canister).

Ive not replaced one but the far end of that pipe seems a little awkward to get at .. probably a case of throttle body off and maybe part of the inlet track .

But .. these vales can and do tick .. are you saying its loud enough that you can hear it in the car when driving ?

Also if there was a fault with this valve you will get a fault code .. no EML but a code will be generated .

Basically what actual fault do you have ?

Hi Demort
Thanks for the reply. The valve has never made any noticeable noise until this week when it became loud enough to hear inside the car when stood in traffic. I think it will be a warranty item if it fails, but perhaps not for just being a bit noisy!

You shouldnt hear it in the car... But it might be more apparent now to your ears now that you know what it is.

Mine ticks occasionally every now and then, its normal. Its just doing its job!
