Can anyone tell me how much of the PSE exhaust has to be removed in order to change the spark plugs?

Also, is there a s/s bolt kit with gaskets to do this?

Any help would be appreciated.

Much appreciated Rob.

I've just had a quick look at the how to guide and this is great in unsalted environment. Unless you are the most capable of home mechanics I'd palm this job off to an indie. I only wanted to swap the exhaust on my car and what should have taken 3hrs, took 1.5 days due to rust. And I had to cut most of the bolts off.
Don't want to be to naysayer, but wanted to give you a realistic picture.

Good advice. I"d give it to a specialist who can put the car up on a ramp and create quicker and better access.

Agreed, and thanks for the advice.
I had a look yesterday and it looks ominous.

Ahhhhhhh. I think we need to see pics of the new car. I've had a quick nosey and it seems like there are none to be found.
C'mon on then....chop chop.

I'm not sure how to include pics

A few years ago I bought a 997 Gen 2 that had been serviced by an Indie in Leicester and they had changed the spark plugs without removing the exhaust.

I questioned this with the indie who being a far smarter man than the Technicians OPC Exeter confirmed it can be done without removing the exhaust. The owner said that he watched them do it!!

I had the car serviced and the plugs changed to be on the safe side.
I spoke to the technicians at Exeter who just laughed

What a great looking car Wild hog. I have the same colour and l love it :thumb:

Ill quickly run through how i would do it .. due to corrosion the Porsche instructions dont really work .. you may be lucky but i havent so far .

Rear pu off , rear bumper and exhaust side panels / heat sheilds .

Cut off the clamp holding the silencer to the cat .. the 4 inch clamp with x2 bolts in it ( angle grinder ) undo the x2 rear silencer bracket 13 mm nuts ..

Undo the front silencer bracket x2 13 mm nuts .. pull off the silencer .

Undo the x2 torx heat sheild bolts then you have to lift it and bend it to get it out of the way .. its a pain .. trust me .

Then undo the coil bolts and change the plugs .

The exhaust clamp .. well you could spent time cutting just the bolts and replaceing them .. if you cut the bands though it makes removeing the silencer easier .. then you replace the clamps with new .

I get 1.5 hours to do it this way for info .

IF the clamp bolts can be undone then in theory and according to Porsche you can leave the PU on the car ..

I have NEVER managed to do it this way lol .
