One-off Porsche Classic ‘Project Gold’ 993 Turbo revealed

The body is finished in a vibrant Golden Yellow Metallic shade, which references the 599bhp 911 Turbo S Exclusive Series – revealed last year as the most powerful 911 Turbo ever made.

I suspect that like the 991 version it will look an awful lot better in the metal than it does in pictures and that the build quality will shine through.

I can't see why they didn't finish the job off by adding the black bonnet and roof stripes. Dont know

Any forecasts as to what the auction price will be Question

£2 million ?

Very Happy my bad, it's the 'unveiling' this weekend and the 'world premiere' next month Rolling Eyes

If they can make an Ferrari FXXK and an Aston Martin Vulcan, I don't think the owner would have much trouble making this road legal.

It might be possible as an aftermarket project (depending upon which country the ultimate owner wants to run it in), but the point is that because it is a new scratch build from a manufacturer too big to be eligible for low volume exemptions - it cannot be sold from the manufacturer as a road legal car as it can't meet emissions/crash standards/etc. Same problem as the "continuation" models from Jag and Aston.

Where it gets absurd is that if they started with an existing one with an existing VIN (as Land Rover have done) then they could have completely remanufactured it to exactly the same standard and had it be as road legal as any other 993 Turbo. It isn't as if there were only a handful of them in existence to make the use of a donor car impractical is it... Paper Bag

Anyway - museum piece for someone who wants to bid on the last one ever built, and that will likely inflate the bids. One assumes that this is a charity thing rather than Porsche just pocketing whatever it makes?

A complete waste of time and effort . . . pointless.

Insane ? ........ for a one off piece of art that you could enjoy looking at every day. Dont know

I certainly know I'd rather have 100 similarly priced cars rather than ONE 'Salvator Mundi'.

Apart from also needing a much bigger man cave to keep the collection in. Very Happy

Is the top cover to the intercooled made of carbon-fibre / was that a turbo S part?

Also the lettering on it - looks like it might read turbo WLS II

what does that mean?

thanks pzero Smile

Power was leveled up to WLS II level with 450 bhp. The 993 Turbo was also available with factory tuning called WLS (Werksleistungssteigerung for factory performance upgrade), WLS II an extra 42 bhp (450 bhp). Porsche produced 160 turbo S and 185 WLS II with the big S-package of which this is one.

I had never heard that term used before!
