For those who have remapped a 996 Turbo or have experience in matter.

Is it possible to map the power delivery so that it is linear and more akin to a nasp engine? Even it if means an element of de-tuning in some areas of the rev range?

The new era of 991 Turbo engines do a decent job, is possible to achieve this or better on a 996 Turbo?

Cheers

Not really. It gives you time to hang on before the boost hits.

No, but mine is mapped to boost a lot earlier at the sacrifice of a little less top end and I find it a lot less laggy than it was.
It was done by Jonny Dangerous :thumb:

Angry, could you provide a little additional info, what RPM do you reach full boost/torque? When does it drop off?

Do you also know the above data for standard?

I used to own a 96T but it was a long time ago, and my memory is hazy!!

Cheers

Don't know really, I don't really concentrate on the lower revs, id say it spools up about 1000rpm lower than standard- it certainly made a big difference, the car totally scorches out of the corners and I change up at about 5000-5500rpm and it fires off again.
Its up for sale if you are looking for one again?.... and cheap :thumb:

But in answer to the first question.....No, you are never going to get a completely linear power delivery on a older Turbo car

I'm running a Markski tune and this chap tunes a few cars over here all the way from Chicago.Markski is world famous for his knowledge and above all his Costomer support.
His tunes are individual and not of the shelf and what you ask for is what you get .
Markski has tuned my turbo 14times now and may well retune again once requested after new parts fitted ,,,,, if anyone can he can .

Markski Tunning . Com. Check him out, call him

Not had a 996T but several Audi S4/RS4TT All of which I had remapped. Now have a 996 C2.

The C2 has very little torque below about 3500/4000 then really comes on cam and pulls through to the red line.

The turbo Audi's, as standard, started boosting at about 1800 but ran out of puff by about 5500/6000.

Once remapped they boosted a little earlier but more importantly, certainly with the RS4, would keep pulling right up to 6500rpm.

So, remapping will improve the feel of the car - improving the top end. BUT, I wouldn't want to de-tune the bottom end to match the lack of torque that the NA C2 has!

I'd recommend speaking with a workshop that specialises not only in remapping but also in maintenance of Porsche's and can tailor a map to your needs. This will need to be done on a rolling road.

I used MRC in Banbury for the Audi's. they have their own 4WD rolling road and also work with Porsches. They know their stuff!

+1 for MRC and they really know their Porsches, too.

That's good to hear. Hasn't Mineha got a 996?
