Buying from Yorkshire

Hi
It's seems that the general consensus on here is to avoid buying a car from Yorkshire! Why is this? Is it just one bad dealer?
I'm really interested in a car that Redline Specialist Cars has in at the moment.
Has any one here had any first hand experience with them. Good or bad?
The car in question seems very reasonably priced and if it's as good as they are telling me it is then I'll be picking it up on Wednesday 😁.
Thanks

I think you will find its 'Yorkshire Classic Porsche' at Collingham.
A member on here, EasternJets had a night mare , from memory he paid a deposit went to collect but things were wrong, they repaired etc. But then wouldn't let him test drive again and he had a terrible time getting the deposit back.
Other Yorkshire dealers are same as any others, just do you're research and maybe a pretty purchase Inspection :thumb:

Ok thanks.
What's a pretty purchase inspection? 😉

diverzeusy meant Pre Purchase Inspection, or PPI, by an independent Porsche specialist. This will check the overall condition of the car, most importantly the engine for signs of bore score, and will come with a written report highlighting any issues that need to be addressed :thumb:

And :welcome: to 911 UK

What a load of old bollocks. This place is infested with people who fear that if they go beyond Watford they run the risk of contracting Ebola

Just do your homework and you'll be fine. I've bought from redline, Alexanders and Specialist cars of Melton, all with no problem.

I bought mine from Redline just over a year ago and had a great experience.
Really straightforward to deal with and have great stock.

Only thing i would check is the warranty cover, mine was a Warrantywise policy limited to £500 which was pathetic but not sure if that was because it was modified.

Overall I would highly recommend and would buy from them again :thumb:

I don`t personally have any experience of Redline, but given the stock that they are holding and if you have a rock solid warranty agreement on your purchase, I think you are in safe hands there

Which car are you considering or have agreed to purchase :?:

Hang on surely this is a reason not to recommend them :dont know: Anyway I had a superb experience in Yorkshire from Leeds OPC. :thumb:

The problem I had at Yorkshire Classic Porsche is a case of one bad apple etc.

Alexanders have a very good reputation and some good stock

Redline in Harrogate is worth a day out even if your not buying a car, showroom is car heaven! My only worry when I went there was that the car I went to look at was not even cleaned or prepped and when they looked at my trade in they said they'd found a gearbox oil leak which was in fact a weeping coolant hose so I lost a bit of faith in their mechanics then.
Didn't buy the car in the end as they refused to budge on the price.

Porsche Strasse in Leeds also have a pretty good reputation but more for servicing.

G'mund which is another dealer with a chequered history, they were actually stripped of their Porsche Accreditation I believe, says a lot!

There's bad dealers everywhere you just have to do your homework, I didn't at YCP and nearly came a cropper, the thread on here became legendary!!

Not mentioned on here but usually gets highlighted...Worth checking if it is a SOR (owner still has title) as any unexpired porsche warranty that the car may have can transfer if it's not dealer stock.

I bought a private sale car helped by a dealer in Sheffield. Only issue was that my Oyster card would not work to get me there :dont know: :floor:

Redline are OK. They've got a 918 for sale @£1.3m if you can stretch to it :thumb:

My Indy knows the gaffer very well

Just avoid the place that occupies a multi-storey car park as it's multi-level showroom :what: Having said that worth a look but perhaps not to buy unles you take a Colini stick :hand:

Thanks for the feedback guys.

It's 997 turbo s 2010
33k on the clock.
Full Porsche Service history (4sevices)
There's no Porsche warranty to transfer so will definitely check out what they are offering warranty wise.
On paper the only thing letting it down is the fact it has had six owners.
I know this shouldn't be an issue as long as it's been cared for by all of these owners!
£78k is that about the right kind of money?

Is it white?

I've bought from Redline and dealt with Specialist Cars of Malton, both were/are a pleasure to deal with. :thumb:
