Just had a call from my local OPC earlier this afternoon to advise me that my PDK box is goosed and I need a new one. Looking at circa £9k but can't give me an exact price yet because they've never had to replace one before and are still working out all the parts I need ! 2013 991.1S with 57k Miles. This is my 5th vehicle with a PDK and I've never had any problems at all happen prior to this. I don't have a warranty either...... anyone else out there had issues with theirs ? Gutted.....

Yes on my GT3. What was the issue?

I had a new one in my 997.2. They don't do any work on the gearboxes, so any problem can only mean a replacement gearbox.

Can't imagine the ZF box is much different. Price sound high.

Info has been very limited; apparently the dealers aren't allowed to take these things apart? So I've only been told that the box isn't fixable based on their fault diagnosis system, so has to be replaced.

Ive seen a couple of 997 PDK that required new gearboxes .. first signs on both were a leak .

Not seen or herd of a 991 needing a box yet though .

No leaks on mine, simply the ' gearbox emergency operation" fault showed up on the dash and it wouldn't go into any gear whether I tried it via the gear stalk or the paddles.

Thats actually a serious internal fault .. clutch faults will allow you to continue your journey with reduced capabilities but once the car is stopped it cant be driven again .

To be fair to OPC,s theres very little us indys can do let alone OPC guys with their hands tied .

There is almost no parts available to buy so no point stripping and investigateing .

ouch, 9k, makes my manual gearbox rebuild that the 997.2 in for at present seem a bargain :nooo: :nooo: both the PDK and manual boxes on the 997.2 and 991 are supposed to be very solid units but I guess a few have to let go and unfortunately we are the ones its happened to. :nooo:

Ouch, any chance of dealer contribution?

OP needs to ask that question .. if he doesnt ask then the OPC is unlikely to make a request on his behalf .. customer has to request it was the rules when i was at OPC .

There should certainly be a good will contribution imho .

in the Nissan GTR world Nissan said the same, must be replaced, I even met the product manager. When I told him we repair ours in the UK he told me I was not allowed to! Very common a few Indie's repair them for GTRs I'm hoping that this will happen for Porsche PDK's to keep the cost down

Dodson do parts for PDK's https://www.dodsonmotorsport.com/porsche/transmission.html

these do most of the bits for GTR's and the like, they are very good

I will call Porsche GB tomorrow and see if my violin skills get me anywhere. This a Porsche No.9 for me so I'm hoping brand loyalty will help.

Thanks, might come in useful if I don't manage to sell one of the grandkids to fund an OPC repair:0)

might be worth scaring them that you can get it repaired, it killed nissan dealers.....

Middlehurst gave up (sole GTR importer for 10 years for nissan)

75% of GTR's are serviced by indies even new ones. the Indies have better warrenties

Nissan replacement TM 6-12 weeks Litchfield repair 1 day to 3 weeks....depending on the problem
