Newbie here. I finally realised my dream of owning a 997 turbo, having owned a 3.2 Carrera for a few years. On the third day of ownership my gearbox gives up the ghost.,
I had seen error messages for slipping gears 2nd and 3rd and informed the garage on day of purchase. Had no noises or warning . I was driving and entered a roundabout went back on the gas and no drive.
Car is at the Specialist as we speak, awaiting inspection. Luckily covered under warranty
Anyone else experienced similar ?

Wheeler Dealers had a Boxter tip with a gearbox fault. IIRC it had problems selecting gears and the warning light was on the dash. The original owner sold it for peanuts as he thought the gearbox was knackered. Edd just changed the gearbox fluid and it was fine.

Hope yours is a simple as that?

Good luck :thumb:

Oh yeah remember that one. Fingers crossed 🤞 Cheers 👍🏼[/quote]

All torque converter boxes are super sensitive to level and quality of fluids. Too high and they foam up, too low and you dont get enough in the TC in all gears, degraded or burnt and your box overheats. All of which can lead to loss of drive and eventually permanent damage to friction materials

I reversed the deal the dealer. I now have my 1984 Carrera and money back 👍🏼

Fair play to the dealer - worth giving them a shout out for doing the right thing.
Shame you had Turbo trouble but maybe your marriage to the 34 year old C was just meant to be.

Registration number please so we can keep an eye out for this one :thumb:

Best move in the situation. Well done and good on the dealer to honour the arrangement to give you money back + your old car.
