Ceramic Shield problems

Hi

A bit of advice need.

I bought the 996tt from a reputable Porsche specialist approx 18 months ago. They had coated it with Kenotek ceramic shield and it looked amazing. However, the water didn't pour off like it does on the youtube videos.

The car i garaged and covers about 1k a year and only when dry.

I cleaned my car on Friday, snow foam PH, two buckets etc (noting it hadn't been cleaned for over 18 months, it only had a thin layer of dirt.

The problem:

After cleaning it, I found that the paintwork wasn't as super smooth as it used to be particularly the roof and bonnet and top of wings. Could the dirt (noting its just dust) have caused this? I can see any contamination at all.

Solution:

Noting that its a ceramic coating? can I

1. Polish it out

2. If I can't do I have this ceramically coated again?

Advice greatly appreciated

Yes you can polish. My detailer recommended britemax blackmax when my ceramic coating got scuffed by a football as it is very fine. Then apply a top-up coat (over whole car) of gtechniq C2v3. Really easy to apply.

you should not have to polish ask the company that done the job for you

Take it back to the detailer as it should still be guaranteed. Gtechniq, which I have, has, from memory a 3 or 5 year guarantee depending on what coating you get. Also with the mileage you are doing, you should invest in an indoor cover. My F type which only did 300 miles last year lives under a cover & is as clean as the last time it was out, October.

Sorry, but how is not washing your car, even with light use, and letting the impurities etch into the coating for 18 months the detailers / applicators fault?

I've done around 1k miles in my car since I got it last August, pretty much all are dry use miles and I could not even consider not having washed my car in that time

If you use wash and wax shampoo the wax part sticks to the paint work.

If you have waxed it since the coating the wax will also sit on top of the the ceramic coat rendering it useless.

You also need to check how hard you water is in your area that you are using to rinse off the car with.

All the best
