£345!! From my OPC - I politely declined .

The add ons at service are ridiculous!

Erm .. er .. try halfords . or your local indy .. that price is a joke . top end and i would have thought around the £90 mark.

mind you thats a regass ..

OPC and you get a nice deodorizer let off in the car as well .. i guessing that aint cheap :D

Been quoted £130 inc. VAT for that includes the stink bomb which is £50 inc. VAT from an OPC.

Someone is taking the michael with that price.

I thought he said £150 on the phone then I got the text

i got scared just looking at the other prices ..

I assume the pads are fine and the discs are getting low .. hmm .. wait untill you actually need brakes (pad warning light on ) then get discs and pads .. i recomend an indy due to those prices .

BTW .. a/c service .. common report .

If the a/c doesnt make a noise .. whineing due to low gass then it doesnt actually need a regass .

Halfrauds 60 quid for a regas before discount code, f1 autocentres do a regas and the bomb for 58 quid. My local VW indie does it for 40 quid. They all do the same, pull a vacuum on the system, suck it all out, if the vacuum holds for 20mins you are likely leak free so recharge with refrigerant and oil.
Someone who knows what they are doing and can fix a leak will charge a bit more. Most places doing it cheap are just plug and play machines, nothing wrong with that, I used to use halfords as if they found a leak and they can't recharge it they don't charge you, so a free diagnosis on a new car with non working a/c

My local Kwikfit have always been OK for the aircon regas on my cars and as per Halfords if they can't get it working they wont charge you.

AC currently working fine , cold and no noises but will service elsewhere . Will use Indy for disks and brakes too, where would you get them from ?

Car is under warranty so would like to use Genuine Porsche parts

thanks

I have the air con re-gassed every year, all our vehicles are over 5 years old so I work on the assumption that they will be losing a % over the year and checking the vac and refreshing the lubricant and gas is preventative maintenance.

What I do is keep a watch for offers from ATS/Kwik-Fit/Halfords and local specialists advertising on Groupon/Itison/Wowcher etc. etc. As soon as a decent offer pops up I grab them and get them all done at once.

Last year ATS had a Groupon deal at £25 for a system test and re-gas and the year before a local specialist was £20 for the same.

At those prices it seems worthwhile and I usually buy some Normfest anti-bac bombs from Euro Car Parts to complete the job myself, along with new Pollen filters of course

:thumb:

If your doing the pollen filters yourself remember the conector for the GPS for your nav is located right next to it and can be easily knocked out ,so if you lose your Nav and it cant see the sats then thats what you have done and you just need to reconnect it . :thumb: :thumb:

Ha ! On a positive note the OPC did the break fluid change when I told them not to ! I had it done at the last service 2 years ago, but when I had the 111 point inspection done for the warranty they called me at work and said it needed doing last year - I said go ahead and then realised it had been done already at that OPC the year before - only found out after and I was miffed.
They accidentally done it again today and didn't charge , so that makes up for the time I changed it when I shouldn't have!

Going to change the discs , design911 has original Porsche discs and pads . Will use my Indy for that .
