As above is there any recommended specialists in the Coventry area for a PPI and borescope? PCT. would've been the go to but there no longer trading.

Without doubt I would use Martin Brown. (PorscheTech) He is over the road from where PCT used to be. Does all my three Porsches and is excellent.

Very helpful, genuine bloke. Knows his stuff. Give him a ring and see what you think.

4.6 miles from the supplying dealer? Not sure if they will know each other too well for a completely unbiased inspection? Is that wrong of me to think that? :dont know:

I haven't used him myself so I can't speak of his integrity, but I do know PeterS and his recommendation would be more than good enough for me.

Martin Brown works next door to Shirleys garage who've been in the Porsche business for donkeys years. Knows his stuff and I'd be surprised if he'd give you a biased report as its his rep on the line...

Seemed like a very knowledgeable and nice chap on the occasions I used to go down there to kick tyres on my lunch hours working locally.

You're going for a C4S as you're looking for a borescope? Might b e worth giving Grant a call at Hartech about the significance of a borescope that shows scoring and a scope that doesn't show scoring. As Baz and Grant will likely share with you, interpretation of the findings and putting them into context is key.

Sorry cant help you with a PPI dealer down that part of the world. Phone the recommended guys, get a feel for them and then decide. A good PPI costs around £300 and borescope is extra (typically around £150) from the guys up this part of the world who are any good. brief the indy on what it is that you want after asking what is covered - I have seen PPI badged as one hour labour with a guy in his dungarees with no report but a jotter with some hieroglyphs and word of mouth feedback. I'm assuming that's not what you want - and presumably you want a written report, assessment of faults and findings and estimated costs to put things right. Mileage should be validated against the ECU data and a full independent HPI report should be made available.

Maybe Zuffenhaus?
Based in Wythall, so far enough away to be impartial. A very good independent dealership with father and son management team. I have used them many times and bought from them.

It's a nice looking C4S....I would be happy with another if I can find a good one. Can't be many one owner cars knocking about.
I think they are so much car for the money, just a shame about the inherent issues with them.

Metropole blue interior wouldn't be my first choice but it's not offensive. I think if it's as described and I air on the side of caution I could be a contender.

Who is the supplying dealer?

Martin is 100 yards from where PCT were, so if he is too close so were they!

I'm sure pretty much everyone in the Porche trade knows of or has heard about someone else, somewhere along the line.

Try to get to the root of why a one owner C4S has been off-loaded. As you state, there are inherent issues. After one experience it would be a tragedy to inherit a similar experience. Is it at a Porsche specialist? If not, be especially careful in having it checked out. A Porsche specialist would very likely scope it and check.it over before deciding if to take it into stock. A non-specialist could easily take it into stock as a part-ex for another car on the forecourt without paying too much attention on 'inherent issues' out of lack.of experience with this model and engine.

I hope it works out for you. There is a fair amount of emotion in the C4S in your post and emotion can.overtake the logic.

Yeah I wondered that myself....it's a car at JR Motor Co so a Knowledgeable Porsche specialist, but you have to wonder why a car that's been owned by the same owner for all this time gets moved on. He did say they have had it since Dec as it needed a bit of prep...they have done the IMS, clutch and RMS.

To be honest I would forget the whole thing. I don't doubt that you've had a bad experience but the paranoia is set in.

Keep the detective hat on. The website shares more on a review of C4S versus the Turbo than the specific vehicle details.

If you want to proceed, get all the details on the warranty, paying particular attention to the wear 'n' tear exclusions clauses. These are usually 3rd party warranties so worth getting to understand it fully before you part with cash.

Good luck with the purchase. Back in 2012 when I was looking, £20k would get a high mileage Turbo but a lower mileage C4S. A dealer told me to buy the C4S at a budget of £22k rather than a bottom end of market Turbo.

I decided on a Turbo and upped my budget by the C4S price plus a typical rebuild cost.
