Hi All

After rebuilding a boxster I have finally upgraded to a 2002 911 C2..ok I kept the boxster too.

My car is a 2002 C2 manual with an amazing service history and full Porsche engine rebuild.

Have replaced all coils, serviced it and replaced suspension bushings and coffin arms. Have also ordered Koni FSD and Volgtland Springs.

:welcome: to 911uk and to 911 ownership.

Seal Grey 996.2 = :cloud9: memories for me

Hi and welcome. Lovely colour!

Do you have any info on the engine rebuild? ie. why? What was done? Who did it? I didn't think Porsche often did engine rebuilds? :dont know:

looks nice and congrats

lovely colour and the aero kit parts look spot on too.

Very nice - liking the aerokit.

Thanks for the comments all. The engine was rebuilt due to a cam chain issue. Porsche rebuilt it, the owner spent an additional 5k going the full hog. Had it checked by a Porsche specialist...if I didn't buy it he was going to. I have GT3 wheels on my Boxster which I am going to swap across soon.

Had the FSDs on a 335i and loved them. Hope they are as good on the 911.

Anything in particular which i should do or keep an eye on ?

Bore score, hence me asking about the rebuild. Get a low temp thermostat if not already fitted and move to the millers nano oil.

Welcome along. As already said, nice colour.

If your GT3 wheels are Mk2 they were only ever made in 911 widths but if they are Mk1 versions then check the rear wheel width as 996 C2s use 10" whereas the Boxster versions that look identical are only 9" wide.

It's written either side of the tyre valve. Well technically one side is the offset e.g. 65 and the other side of the valve is 9 or 10 for width.

Anyway, enjoy the car, I hope it gives you years of happy motoring. :thumb:

PS Which country are you in? I've never seen roofs like those before. Eco friendly?

Many thanks guys. I am based in Ireland....the house is an A energy rated home and the roof is zinc

A few updates...paint correction and 997 Turbo wheel install. Loads of Work planned and gathering parts for a build.

The following are waiting to be fitted, 4 x new coffin arms, adjustable rear toe arms, adjustable droplinks, koni special active shocks and lowering springs, RPM Clutch kit, Stoptech brakes, radio, new rms and I will change the IMS. What IMS upgrade is the longest lasting ?

Already done, full service all fluids, coilpacks and plus plus a new exhaust.

Blimey! There is almost nothing left to be replaced!!!! Best of luck and hope you really enjoy the car when competed....looks great.

IMS bearing 'upgrade' = can of worms!

Personally I would just fit a new OE bearing with the cover removed to allow the engine oil to circulate. But only my opinion (I haven't done it, I am taking the ostrich approach...)

Some light reading haha http://911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=108257
