I have been trying to identify where this oily fluid is coming from with not much luck the two common areas I see mentioned are Diff seals-mine are bone dry, clutch slave cylinder on way out overflows from reservoir above this has also been changed last year. so you can see the oily residue on the two clips on the large pipes this is the only evidence I can find.

does the power steering fluid come from the main fluid tank in the engine bay or is there an additional reservoir somewhere

I know someone will have the answer :thumb:

Well .. hmm .. er ...

You do seem to have covered everything i was thinking .

Power steering rack is further forward and it looks like its the rear of your undertray that the main part of the leak is at .

Power stering resevoir is at the rear , there is only one .

Ok ..

Look at the clutch resevoir on the left side of the battery .. just make sure its not actually leaking from there .. look underneath it .. could it be old oil from when it was changed ?

I take it the whole front diff is dry ?

Coolant can feel oily but it will also leave white / pink marks so thats out .

Brake fluid lvl is all ok i take it ?

Atm all i have is thats from an old leak and probably the clutch resevoir replacement .

I'm no mechanic, but could it be residual fluid from the previous work mixed with AC condensate?

I had a nasty surprise one day after a long drive I reversed up a slope and quite a bit of fluid sloshed out of the front/underside of the car. Thankfully it was only condensate mixed with general filth that had accumulated on the undertray, as the AC outlet hose had not been poked through the undertray when it was last removed. It didn't look/smell like coolant or oil, but it didn't look like water either, which lead to a bit of a panic at the time.

Cheers for the replies Kenny/Iain so had a look at the reservoir today and it is a bit wet at the joint to the small pipe that attaches to the reservoir so tried pushing the pipe further in and repositioned the spring clip will check it in a week or so

The pipe is not very clear in the picture
