What to buy next?

As you may have read I have suffered a few issues with my 996 which means there is a high chance a will be replacing it soon.

My only issue now is what to buy! :?: :dont know:

I went up to 911V, had the pleasure of meeting with Tom who showed me around the Artic 996 Turbo which is stunning! It's a very very good example and I'm still tempted.
My only dilemma is that for this increased budget I have the choice of other newer models such as a 997.2S. I have my eye on some nice looking C2S's and also a couple of Gen2 4S's.
Then there's the option of a Gen1 997 Turbo Tip for similar budget??

I had after the trouble I've had consider going back to BMW and looked at an E46 M3 CSL, test drove an M2 and also considered a 1M currently for sale at JZM.

I would like to stay with Porsche as I feel I haven't fully scratched the itch, and no other brand I've owned previously has that feel to it.

So the big question....with a maximum of £47-48k to spend, where would your money go? What would be the most enjoyable, but also needs to be a prudent decision based on future values, minimum depreciation, strong residuals and cost to run.

Options are as mentioned, 997.2 4S, 997.2 2S, 996 Turbo, 997.1 Turbo Tip.

As above.

A few options that have caught my eye.....the 996TT I have previously viewed.

What are your thoughts? I can't help being drawn to a newer car after my last 996 issues, but can't argue that Turbos are :worship:

The only 'newer' option other than a Mezger block would be gen 2 997 or newer if you want to avoid a headache.

That targa does look good!👌🏻👌🏻Must be fairly rare in that guise?

The Chappell 2S has been on my radar.....just don't like those wheels much. There is a very low mileage '10' reg 2S manual at Sytnef for sensible money.

I like the 4S at Harbour too....

I think I need to try a 997.2 to see where my heads at....I do really like the 996TT at 911V, but would like to drive a late 997 to see if it ticks more boxes.

The exciting bit starts again Shopping but genuinely gutted my 4S isn't comin* home!

I would be looking at and test driving the forum members Turbo having discussed your dilema with him. It will be a proposition quite different to any .2 997 so ensure that you actually get to drive them as only then you can really be sure which model type to focus your final decisions on.

Still consider PPI even though it badly failed you first time round.

As someone impartial

I would look at a 996 turbo over a gen 1 997 none turbo IF you like the 996 looks / interior.

The problem I have with a 997.1 turbo is the tip box is nowhere near as good as the PDK in the 997.2 but if looking manual not as big an issue.

All are a compromise over a 981 boxster or cayman though where you could get 991 build quality and a better drive :hand:
