If anyone has a 997 Carrera that has had an engine failure and wants to offload please let me know. Anything considered (C2, C4, C4S...) but must be manual and Coupe, also engine rebuildable (i.e no con-rod sticking out of casing).
Many thanks :thumb:

I may have a contact for you over in Germany who has a 997 C4 with broken engine, I will try to clarify it this week.

As an aside, I'm over in Germany myself quite a lot at the mo, back over in two weeks time for my annual medical and race licence renewal for RCN/VLN in 2018.

Might be worth contacting some of the main players in the UK to see if they can pass someone on to you who doesn't want to go through the process of having their bore-scored engine rebuilt.

Sound perfect Martian, please let me know ;)
I think we spoke before about your German trips but you were up north somewhere from memory. I'm about 40mins south of the NBR.

Good thinking Alex, although LHD is probably the better option for me so finding one in the UK might be tricky.

The UK engine builders don't just do UK rebuilds :thumb:

Edit: You never mentioned you wanted a left hooker. Might want to add it to your title.

or how about this for a mod?

Yes not far from Cochem; Traben-Trarbach a bit further sound down the Moselle ;)

Alex I never thought about LHD to begin with but then Martian brought it up and it made sense ;) MacF1 is my favourite car of all time, Fuel tank might need a bit of work to get the steering rack sorted. Although I think I remember seeing a 911 once with a F1 style central column

With today's technology, surely you could do a 'steer by wire' e-turn style mechanism :drive:

My YouTube spirals always contain several of your videos now....911 videos of course, some may argue it is porn non the less :floor:

Martian, do you have any detail about this 997 or pics. Silver like my 996 would be the icing on the cake ;)

Tom, that is the one of I thinking of :thumb:

The one I know of is black, C4 non S. I drove the car about a year ago and the gearbox was pretty much shot but think that was repaired. I heard that the engine had let go, don't know to what extent, will try and get some further info this week.

It was a friends daily then 'ring-tool' and although generally well cared for, was given a hard 800-1000 laps before the engine had enough. The gearbox was crunching at pretty much every downshift but I think that was repaired/replaced.

Hi Martian, thanks for the info. Did you manage to speak to your friend about the car and whether he wants to sell it? Do you know the current location of it?
