sorry I know there had been many threads on wheel upgrades but I am trying to decided on what to go for and what I can fit to my car. I like the gen 2 sports design wheel but wondered if anyone has managed to get a 991.2 wheel in a 997 or just pictures of what wheels you can fit to help me decide what to go for. I only need the horn to work as my car is manual and I have long arms so can turn up the volume on my stereo without much issue :thumb:

Finn, Nigel99 got a 991.2 wheel to work in a 997.2 so guess with the steering control module and the 991.2 airbag you would be good to go in a 997.1.

this is what I have done the 997.1 tip got a 997.2 oe carbon pdk wheel
the 997.2 man got a 997.2/991 oe sport wheel in alcantara.

My 997 turbo tip got a 997.2 pdk wheel.

Before and after pics. I have now sent my wheel to royal steering wheels for a retrim.

hhhhmmmmm choices choices all looking good and all much better than 997.1 multi function . So do you think that if you can get the 997.2 / 991 wheel on with the module you might be able to get the 991.2 wheel on there as well? or do you all think that wheel is a bit too modern looking I.e. won't got with the 997 interior?

Best bet would be to send Nigel99 a pm as he did quite a bit of research before going with it and he would be best placed to warn of any potential issues. :thumb:

I like the first one you posted Finn, but not sure I personally would put it in a 997 as it may look a little out of place, the second one is very shiny...

I guess its down to how authentic looking you want to keep your car. Ive put loads of 997.2 parts on my 997.1 car which many folk wouldn't do, but I kinda feel that its in keeping with the car as they were made for later versions of it - thats my justification anyway and Im sticking to it :D

As you say anything is nicer than the old triangular airbag wheel!

I haven't any experience fitting one, but I do believe the 991 wheel will fit and work on the 997 if you decide to go that route, but you would need to add the latest control unit to add all the functionality.

Is your car tip or manual?

Let us know which way you decide to go in the end! :thumb:

Thanks monster I think you might be right about those two wheels as I am not sure they would look good in the 997 but wondered if anyone had a photo. I am defiantly going to get the tech equipment knob and hand brake so just wanted something that matches the Ali look a bit more.

with regards to mods I always think that it's my car so I will do what I want to it and if or when I sell I can go back to stock anyway. Scholster is tutting at me right now!

100% Agree on that point , good to put the idea out there gauge opinion and then do what you feel is right for you. :thumb:

as always :thumb: Phil.

btw Scholster is a good mate of mine but also a stock man so I was hoping he would be on for a bit of banter. I almost talked him into a gen 2 key fob the other day haha

Yes there guys down this way the group is split into 3

1/ keep it totally stock
2/ you can mod and tweak as long as your using OE parts
3/ just make it what you want using anything OE ,aftermarket including 4x2 lol

:floor: :floor: why would he want a gen2 key fob when he can enjoy having to keep going and checking to see it his bonnet is open when he puts his key in his pocket , and he can appreciate the strange grey colour of the fob that goes with nothing else on the car
