Oh I remember fitting that ***** and the uprated gearbox mounts. You'll notice an improvement with the old golden rod, very precise.

On train to Cheddigton to collect car for shakedown day in the Cotswolds.

Very very childishly excited. Full butterflies.

Report to follow later

Amazing day today driving my car to Chipping Norton and back for a meeting to shakedown the car post Ohlins fit and geo.

I'm delighted with the interior work. Looks OEM and totally refreshes the driving experience. The ride from the new shocks is outstanding. Plush but massive control over dips, uneven road surfaces etc without any harshness. I'm also delighted at the lack of understeer and extra grip from the diff.

The gearbox rebuild and short shift kit has also had a very positive effect with first gear now much easier to select and both the increased height of the lever and the shortened throw making the car much easier and more fun to drive.

Dropped it back with a massive smile on my face for the final work, exhaust and a few other bits and bobs. Some quick pics below including meeting my mates in their cars.

Reads like a great day and interior work looks Cool

Looking forward to your thoughts once the mods are finished and you have a few miles under your belt. Wink

100 miles yesterday mainly on B roads and the quality of the damping and body control from the Ohlins is next level. Turn in also massively improved. Most surprising is is the ride quality given the complete lack of body roll. Best moment of the day was going over a hump that was steeper/higher than it looked at a little over the limit and the having the feeling of the car being sucked down onto the road going over the crest. Potholes also dismissed with ease and with minimal discomfort.

Most amusing moment of the day was turning to my business partner and saying to him - "amazing how you can't hear the diff" just before I put the window down and turned into a 15mph corner accompanied by a very loud clack clack clack from the diff. Hopefully the new exhaust will drown this out.
A small price to pay for the extra cornering security and traction. There is a smidge more understeer but the guys at RPM are going to work to try and dial this out over the next week or two.

I can't stress highly enough how good the interior work is, looking forward to showing some of you at some point over the summer hopefully!

Final bits to do...

Strut brace
Engine mounts
Interior door handles
LEDs for all the ancillary lights and console
Exhaust/Cat

Should be done week after next at which point it will no doubt rain for the rest of the summer!

RPM are doing the final few bits this week ahead of me picking up the car next Thursday to take to the Silverstone Classic. Scart exhaust now fitted, looking pretty tasty!

Yep, 3 months I think. Worth it tho based on the day out I had in it a few weeks back.

Looking forward to putting plenty of miles on it between now and the end of the year.

Have spoken to the Tech at RPM and he says they are structurally sound just a bit rusty. They haven't been shy about suggesting extra work so will take their word for it!

Yep I will post a video clip here next Thursday. This from Craig at RPM...

"Exhaust sounds amazing! Has a really nice pop to it."

Frothing at the mouth with excitement now

This is how they should look like, mine didnt seem that much worse than your rear ones, the worse ones wear nearest the tyres.

Cheap as chips to replace whilst the bumpers off ..... if its still off that is. Grin

I will do it next spring, no rush. I don't want to risk not having the car ready for Silverstone next week.
