Porsche OEM tyres, warranty and insurance

Hi guys,
Just went to order some Michelin Pilots Sport SP4 (new kevlar wonder-tyre) for my other car (Panamera) and Camskill had the best price, but they are really strongly advising against fitting them.

They even phoned Michelin about this. They said that they would not warranty the tyre, as it's non-OEM. Also, Porsche would not honour their warranty either (even though it doesn't cover the tyres or brakes.....), although I have not bought into that anyway.

However, the biggie is that Camskill think that my insurers would not pay out either, if I had a prang

So, word of caution: think about all this before going non-OEM tyres (even if they're crap Pirellis :D ). I will be going for OEM SuperSports now.....

Hi
i have a 996T and was hoping to switch to PS4's - however they are not N rated and having been in contact with Michelin, they do not have any planse to have them approved - at least in the near future

i emailed my insurers and they are 100% fine with non-N rated tyres

i haven't had a warranty on this car for at least 5 years

My hesiatation is that my OPC will not fit the PS4's (and their fitter is brilliant whereas Elite dinged the rims fitting the last set and they have all been refurbed since), and i'm not sure if they will MOT it in future (no biggie perhaps), or service it in future? more of a prob for me

very frustrating as i would really like to try them out but in the meantime, it looks like PS2's for a while yet?

:bandit:

The Insurance thing is just a scaremongering myth for tyre sellers to make more money.
