Transmission parts suppliers?

Morning!

I've decided to get my tip uprated whilst the engine is being rebuilt. I've found a tranny guru very close to me who has done many of the Merc 722.653 boxes which are in the 996/7 turbo (along with dozens of other merc/non-merc cars).

Whilst he has lots of the uprated bits lying there on his shelves he has suggested that I ask the wider community if there are any recommended uprated bits which are commonly used and any preferred suppliers?

I've already got in touch with Alto in the USA and another couple of highly regarded transmission guys on that side of the pond but I'm really interested to see if anyone knows anywhere in the UK/europe?

Parts which I would like to find sources for include friction materials, steel plates, solenoids, sprags, torque converter parts and specialists, seals and valve-bodies.

As said, he can do it himself to make it way better than it currently is but I only want to do this once (and its good info for him) if there are others out there with expertise.

Anyone got any info?

Cheers!! :thumb:

One for Rennlist forum by the looks of it.
The only guy I know here that does tiptronic work is 9E but as you are not having the work done by him, I'd guess that's a cul-de-sac enquiry with 9E.

Thanks dude, yep 9e sub it out to MKB in Germany if memory serves me.

There's very little hocus-pocus in these boxes. Lots of Mercedes specialist gearbox builders around who do them in their sleep, but whilst I have one very good solution in front of me, I would like to have more info on what other bits are available to be able to research. That's the fun bit - researching what I want and then having it built to my spec :D
