hi everyone, been on the forum a while, but not had a 911, finally managed to bag myself a 996 3.4 (2000) c2, non traction control, non sunroof, m030 suspension, in zenith blue and 75k miles. car was subject to a write off a couple of years ago, but it was only a new bumper and exhaust silencer/impact bar. car is straight and drives very well and mechanically seems very good with a strong engine, and no leaks/smoke etc. pulls very well.
the idea is to make the car as light and hardcore as possible, staying road legal, but more suited for regular track days. i run a motorsport fabrication/prep business so will be doing all the work here. i do a lot of transaxle 924/944 etc stuff, and also have a 924 turbo, with widebody gtr/gtp panels, full multipoint cage/and all 944 turbo running gear which will be under a tonne and over 500bhp.
the car has already gone on a bit of a diet, with all the interior carpet and lots of trim gone. still running headlining/doorcards etc, but rest is all gone. did a bypass pipe mod to exhaust to get it sounding a bit more fruity, and then just driven the car and had fun. booked for trackday end of month at goodwood for a shakedown, and then the car will go on the ramp and come apart ready for full overhaul with new parts, cage/buckets/harnesses, then brake and suspension overhaul and upgrade etc.
i would like to go down gt3 rs sort of look, but not 100% decided on that yet, with regards to the look of the car.
i have had many cars, and the 911 is the one i have hankered after for years! finally got one and absolutely love it, even though its nowhere near as quick as a lot of other cars i have had, it just pulls on the heartstrings and i can feel it has massive potential to be a great car with some modifications.
i will keep progress documented on here, we have a build thread of the 924 turbo build on another forum and its got a huge following so hopefully spark some interest on here too.
this is my personal car and hope to get along and meet as many people as possible in the future. i popped down to brooklands this weekend and met a few people already, so looking forward to meeting more, and most importantly getting out on track!
