Hi all
The time has come...
Having owned 911's since '95, I will be looking to sell my current car. An OPC warrantied (until June 2018) & OPC FSH 996 Turbo S (manual, cab) that I've owned for nearly eight years. I'm hoping that it will only be a short break from the brand.
I'll try and be as discreet as poss & not do a 'my car is for sale" type post & will place an add on '911UK" shortly anyhow, but I'm after a little help from the forum first...
My quandary is that I'm genuinely stumped as to where to start in terms of pricing, as it's clearly all over the shop at the moment. Of course, I'm aware of the mad prices that occurred during the 996 Turbo rush a while back, but I appreciate that values have considerably softened since then & of course the "S" divides opinion!
I would prefer to go the private sale route as I'm in no rush to sell, but I'm also keen to get some input as to what folks think are the best routes.
I've sold via eBay, Autotrader (& even random FB linked sites) in the past, so I know the "interesting" posts, offers & characters they generate. A recent sale was a low mileage E46 M3 which generated a barrel of "comedy" messages...
As an aside, a depleted fleet will of course also spur a 'what fun car can I get on a budget" question only Pork owners can answer...
I've had a few offers from OPC's, but they allow (as standard for older cars) a 15k or so buffer for outright purchase offer vs sale price. I admire their honesty on this I guess! But even if they need to spend 5k (in Porsche money) to make a car mint, that's still a good mark up! But I understand that older cars are always a risk.
Mine is seal grey, black leather interior with an OPC warranty, 31500 miles. The only advisories left over from the major a few weeks back are heatshield related (usual corrosion on bolt areas) & they did a whole bunch of stuff under warranty. So, it's in pretty good fettle & a sensible colour combo.
The question is, how should I pitch it & where!!? I simply don't use it enough to warrant keeping hold of it, hence the query.
Thanks in advance...
