Pendle Performance

Hi
Just a quick one, I have just bought a 997.1 tt and in conjunction with an exhaust I'm looking to have it remaped.

I have used Paul at RS tuning in Leeds on previous cars. I contacted paul but he said that due to my car being a *****-tronic it would struggle his RR.
Paul recommend me to Pendle performance, I called them up and the guy seemed knowledgeable and clearly had previous experience with 911 tt's, he has a 996tt and said his rollers can run the auto box and that I'd expect to get around 530-540hp after the map.

Price was reasonable too. I'm 99% I'll use them and just wanted to see if anyone else had used them on a 996/7 tt for remapping?

In my opinion Rick at unicorn is the most talented tuner in the uk and that is where I go. He is the only tuner that I am aware of that can run switchable maps on the stock ecu and can do pretty much anything that the laws ofphysics will allow. Asside from Rick I would call 9e and Es. Not heard of the chap you mention. Also be a bit wary of a rolling road and the tiptronic none will do the box any good at all!!

Thanks, will look into them.
I wanted it to be live mapped, opposed to someone flashing a preset file onto the ecu. Quite keen to get some data logging done for IAT etc.

Pendle said their rollers (can't remember the brand) work well with the tip box and others.

I have a long term mate that owns a garage and is a Pendle performance authorised dealer and there is no way i would let him anywhere near mapping my car lol... In fact he would never agree to it either (i trust him implicitly with anything else mechanically on it)...

Pendle performance specialise in Diesel tuning which is a lot more forgiving, I'm told that they are looking to branch out more into Petrol mapping but they're certainly not ready for the likes of Porsche yet!

I've seen many a dodgy map by so called "reputable tuners" that only the only reason the engine hasn't blown is down to the ECU protection put in place by Porsche (none mentioned in this thread so far btw).

For me ESMotor or 9e are the only 2 tuners i would trust.

I know Pendle do ALOT of VW T5 vans!

Never heard of them doing Pork.

And they do franchise out so one may be better than the other :dont know:

Neither Es, 9e or unicorn would ever load a stock map on to a car without data logging it. In fact the best way to do it is on the road in many ways as that is how the car will be used. There are many companies out there that will load a stock map and then just use their rolling road to give you a power figure.

Can't speak highly enough of Martin of Pendle Performance.
I've used him for over 10 years and he's done a mix of cars....
Audi 1.8T, Audi 2.0 TFSi, Audi 3.0 TDI and more of my clients cars, both petrol and diesel.
A year or so ago a (reputable?) door step tuner managed to kill my 997 C4S.
Wiped the Ecu and made it a total no goer !
I transported my Porsche across to Martin who discovered all the Ecu files were corrupted and all checksums needed replacing.....or something like that, this isn't my field!
Within a couple of days he had my Porsche up and running and finely tuned , running better and smoother than ever.

He was tuning Porsche motors over 10 years ago so I reckon he knows them as well as any car.
In the last year he's invested a substantial amount in installing a Maha four wheel drive rolling road set up.
He is very knowledgeable and produces custom maps, suitable for both car and driver.
Just my two pennies worth.

I have a t5 so I'm on the forums a lot and Pendle have a lot of mixed reviews, mappers always slag each other off.

Nah let'a just take over this one ha ha

Seriously though I get mapping turbo cars but n/a cars there not a lot of extra bhp for the money.

Mapping a 997 turbo is completely unlike any other car. The VNT mechanism and hence boost control is different. Huge car needs to be taken in the temperature management and the position the vanes are in. Back pressue and temperature builds rapidly, hence why so many "tuned" cars are actually slower at Vmax than the std cars...

Used unicorn on the wife's golf R did a great job for the Porsche nothing but Es
