Aero wing value

What do you all think a 996 Aero wing is worth second hand? There is a C4S I am interested in buying but has the Aero wing which I would plan to sell and put a standard lid back on.
Any thoughts?

Oh, they're worthless. I usually leave them out for the rag and bone men..

I'd do you a favour though and give you a cheeky £50 for it if you end up with the car...

Must be worth fair money for an OEM wing?

I was hoping to recover some of the cost required to put a standard C4S Lid back on which I would imaging is going to cost a few quid!

He is pulling your leg. No idea what it is worth, but I would think more than a standard lid. Is extra wiring needed for the standard lid?

I thought it would be a case of picking up a used lid with all the mechanicals and have it fitted/painted?? I would need to check but I am assuming the wiring is all there?

Haha, yes I am pulling your chain dude!

I would estimate it being worth around £500, but they really don't come up that often so it might be worth putting it on eBay for £1k and seeing what interest you get?

If I was looking for one I would be expecting to pay around the £500 mark, but then again I never factor in Porsche tax

The reason I mentioned it is that I'm pretty sure I read that on the turbo with the factory aerokit the required wiring to drive the rear spoiler rams is not present. It is entirely possible that with a factory aero kit there is no wiring for the moving rear spoiler on the C4S as well. It might well be worth a check or further investigation to confirm one way or the other.

I'm wondering where best to ask the question? I suppose a call to Porsche service centre, or a specialist?

I'd say 20% less than a brand new one from Porsche if its genuine.

People love the aerokit for some reason.

Will it be stamped or anything obvious to say whether genuine or aftermarket?

If the car has the option code for the aerokit then most likely genuine. I would expect to see a Porsche part number on it somewhere.

When I see them come up for sale used they seem to be around the £800/£1000 mark . you might need to change the fan about £80 but the wiring loom should still be ok to fit a pop up std deck . you will need to get an opc to turn on the pop up function with piwis.

I would look at putting it on for 1k with a view of accepting an offer of £750 or more.if your going to go back to stock on the 996 then you could also sell the side skirts :thumb:

Does the car you are looking at have the widebody front aero splitter too?
It may be the case that someone has only added the rear one, which would mean the wires may still be there....
If it does have it make sure you remove the front one too if you remove the rear one, and put a standard c4s one back on.
