Good day everyone.
Having been a lurker for some time I thought I'd come out and say hi. Having been a Porsche fan since my younger days I finally took the plunge into my first Porsche a month or so back. My car history isn't particularly sexy: Renault Megane, Volvo C70, VW Golf 1.4 mk4 and BMW e92 335d... and now a manual 997.1 turbo.
I realised life is going by far too quick and wanted to tick a few boxes rather than regretting it later. The BMW, whilst fast, was a bit boring. The auto box made it super easy to drive fast and just left me a little cold. So while the BMW lacked engagement, the 997 is different... because it's an Aerokit turbo, and the front splitter is nothing short of a complete b*****d. It leaves me sweating every time I drive it. Wish I went for a normal one. It does look good though. Only mods to date are the Zunsport front grills and an car cover from specialisedcovers - I was concerned about the cover having read various reviews, but am really liking the stormshield+ cover.
Immediately after taking delivery I took the 997 on a driving trip to Florence. Which was a bit mad to be honest (came back with a few battle scars) but still a great experience.
What I was most impressed about on the road trip was the fuel economy! Phenomenal. A trip that included London to Florence, Siena, and a return trip via lake como and through Switzerland...the total fuel cost was €550. Admittedly we were driving sensibly, but to see 32mpg was a total surprise.
Anyway enough talking, here are some pictures
