Cleaning adonised fuchs

Has any body else on here used the technique, apparently from the original Porsche owners manual with these wheels. That is, to restore the adonised finish, removing milky oxidisation. Wash with detergent, dry and then apply a liberal layer of Vaseline by hand or cloth. Leave for few hours / overnight and then remove with a towel/cloth. I have found the results amazing.
NB this is anodised NOT polished Fuchs.
Did a search and couldn't find it in here, so just thought I'd share.
