Looking to get a decent trolley jack for the garage, but before I do thought I'd ask for feedback on anyones setup used to raise the car enough and set safely to remove all wheels.
Any recommendation on a jack and adaptor pads/spigots?
Cheers. :thumb:

Tony, my only input on this subject is, if your planning on lowering the car at some point make sure you get a low profile lift or you wont get under to the jack points.
if you want all the wheels off together you will need a few decent stands as well . :thumb:

Cheers Phil,
Many years of risk analysis stays with you. I want to be able to lift the car and set so I can remove all wheels and avoid ignoring RA and doing it safe n secure. I do not prefer to be doing one side only if I can do it on both with a good option without being silly.
I will not be lowering modifying the car, I have PDCC 4WS and the extra lowering, so not an issue.
I have seen some Americans have come up with good setups (common for them), some risky too, but looking nearer home for what jack and stands etc people may have and use.

Don't know how much you want to spend but I recently purchased a quickjack system, not cheap I must say,but makes life so much easier than messing about with jacks and stands. To be fair I will get use out of it as I am a mechanic.

Are you helping me or just showing it off :floor:
It looks a neat bit of kit and I do recall seeing that at some point in the past. Can you share some information on it for me please :?:

Hopefully helping you !

Like I say, they aren't cheap, but it definitely makes life easier, there was a slight online discount a few weeks ago,so I took the plunge at the discounted price,so glad I did now though as it's so much easier than messing around with jacks, also a bit safer if you are like me and try balancing the car in the middle with one jack :)

Thank you very much, I will check it out. What is cheap these days? Everything almost, but that's because its Chinese. I am more for "Good value" than cheap, its easier to justify paying the extra at times. Makes me feel less like I'm being screwed :floor:

For decent quality home scissor lifts try Strongman - the seem to have a decent range if you want to spend that kind of money. Don't have one but I'm told by others that they are better quality than most

If you are looking for a decent floor jack and axle stands then Machine Mart is as good as anywhere - we use their high lift 2 tonne and their tall axle stands in the farm workshop and they have stood up well. The longer chassis on the "professional" range is way more stable than the shorter ones but it is a bit bulky if space is an issue. Pricing seems pretty much Ok as well. Obviously you don't need the high lift if its just for wheels but with the tall axle stands it will get you 80cm in the air if you want to do exhausts etc - just check the clearance for the min saddle height though

A fairly mundane 1.25t Clark low entry aluminium trolley jack and a set of Jackpoint stands is what I use when I want mine in the air.

Thanks Ian and Colin :thumb:

I have this one from SGS engineering its a quality bit of kit for the money and i had no issues getting it under my lowered car as its only 75mm closed height

they also do a package with stands as well but i can't comment on these as i don't have them, but i am sure they will be good quality as the other products i have purchased from them have been.

Another vote for SGS stands and jacks, very good quality in a sexy gloss black if you are into that sort of thins. Great value for money and the after sales is spot on

May be a bit extreme, or out of budget but this is the bomb for working on the car.
All wheels can come off, oil changes, brake work etc etc.

I had to make the extra pads for the car to sit on so I could get the jacking pads underneath. The car lives on the lift all the time it`s at home.

Thanks to the above recommendations on SBS, they do look good, low profile too.

Thanks for showing me your setup, but just the pic doesn't doesn't tell the story. Be interesting to know if OK to share?.
