Hi

I have a set of GT3 brakes which I am looking to fully refurbish before repace my current brakes.

I have contacted Bigg Red who say they can't do this and have recommended pro-calipers in East Ham, London.

I have also come across BCS (Brake Caliper Specialists) in Nottingham.

Any thoughts on these two or are they any other you can recommend.

Thanks

Pro Calipers are well known on 911uk and come highly recommended by forum members.

Thomas posts on here from time to time. His user name is Pro Calipers.

eg. ==> Some good advice from Pro Calipers

I used BCS to refurb 4 calipers, if I were having another set done I would use Pro-calipers.

The end result from BCS was good, but not before I had returned a caliper to be re-done due to there being grit in the paint, communication was awful, and they never met the deadline that they set for themselves, read weeks over due not days.

While I would not say 'avoid' I personally would not use them again.

I have purchased Brembo spares, seals, stainless nipples etc from Pro-calipers and the service has always been excellent.

A question to ask when getting quotes is whom manufacturers the seals that are being fitted, genuine Brembo items are much more expensive than alternatives and this can be the sole reason why costs differ.

only use pro-calipers in East Ham, London

Thomas will do an amazing job, used them twice and very impressed, better than any other specialist I have used

+1 for Pro calipers

Pro Calipers...tell Thomas, Faried reccomended you

Faultless service IMHO

FRP, T8, crash7 and 911 UK. Thanks for the advice as I nearly went with BCS. Pro-calipers it is then.

Another recommendation for Pro Calipers

Finished results:

Pro calipers - Thomas
Are you able to put the Porsche logo back on to original Porsche calipers now ?
thanks

That was exactly the question going through my head. When I last spoke to him around a year ago he made it clear that he cannot stick the Porsche logo citing Porsche treats it as trademark infringement - check out and search the forum there is more about this where Porsche GB intervened to stop the practice of sticking logos on the calipers following a refurb.

Pricing and value is not really under question - its full refurb of all seals, piston etc as well as cosmetic respray and re-lacquer. But the fact that he told me they will come back without the logo was a no-go for me. The suggestion was that I buy some off the internet and stick them on myself which I was not happy to do.

Of course he might decline to comment publicly or answer the question. But when I asked it was a no-go and they will come back without the logo.

Judging by the time of the post at 4am this was either insomnia at work or you were in another time zone on holiday.

Any good prestige bodyshop or car restoration place can refurb the calipers.
Estimate for the 996 Turbo came to around £1000 for all 4 calipers to be reconditioned with Porsche new seals etc, resprayed and lacquer, inclusive of removing by an indy, courier to refurbisher (e.g. pro-calipers), courier back to indy and indy to refit and bleed brakes.

If one can DIY then it saves the indy fee to remove and refit - around 3hrs labour. Typical indy labour rate of £80 + VAT /hr = shade under £300 saving.
