Great little things in this day and age and don't half help make life easier and more fruitful. I'm always on the look out for any wizzy apps that come in to good use so thought I'd do a thread on them so people can share their box of tricks.

Here's some of my current favourites:

National Rail - Plots location of all UK trains, finds your location, tells you arrival times, etc. Enables you to have a swifty in The Station Pub across the road due to 20 mins delay.

Bus Scout - As above but on the buses.

Shazam - Trainspotter's paradise, for finding the name of that wonderful track on the dancefloor or in a lift.

Sky+ - check out what's on the box tonight whilst walking the dog, then by chance, see there's some awesome documentary about to start and hit that record button so you don't miss it. Also enables your phone to work as your sky remote for when the GF is demanding she watches the end of sewing Bee and hides the remote whilst TVX freeview is on.

BBC weather - Usually pretty accurate and helps you prevent getting wet or burning your bonce.

Photobucket - Quick and easy to use, unlike the pc version, for doing those quick photo posts on 911uk.com

Uber - Had it for years but only of any use round here at Manchester. Will hopefully be getting some hammer next month in St Tropez though as it's telling me a taxi home is 18 euros instead of the obligatory 60 euros.

The National Lottery - Instantly scans your ticket and tells you whether you need to get up in the morning or go on a 5 day bender to celebrate.

There's plenty of others I use: Banking apps, social media, milling speed/feed calculator, 0-60/30-70 timer, imdb, etc. but I'm guessing everyone knows about them.

So members, what do you recommend adding to everyone's little black box?

Alex I use
Map My Ride it logs all my cycle rides I do and stores all the routes distance, speed ,height and calories burnt
Pacer logs all my walks as above and steps taken per day
both very useful for me :thumb:

Google Maps why use anything else

Twitter for tweeting nonsense

Instagram for picture nonsense

ebay for buying nonsense

amazon for price checking everything else

youtube for watching nonsense

WAZE - traffic and speed cameras - uses social media . Brilliant

Cyclops - very cheap and very accurate speed camera detector app

Deezer - £10 month music streaming. Plugged into car PCM

Glympse - set up navigation group between friends for road trips

I have hundreds of apps

:puh:

Alex,
I use
google maps for when the PCM cant cope lol.
Spotify for all the music in the world ever.( sadly this worked great on my alpine unit in the 997.1 but have yet to suss if there is a way to run it through the pcm3 in the gen2)
google translate for chatting up euro girls lol and asking for stuff when abroad
shazam for when you hear some music and need to know what album song etc its from. got some great new albums from using this.
whatsapp for group chats
waze for knowing where the speed cameras are
sky app for watching programs when sitting around bored.

think thats the main ones I use. :thumb:

Accuweather - the best weather app I've seen. Tells you when it will start and stop raining to the minute and is surprisingly accurate!

Hole 19 - Tells me how far I still am from the green after my Tee shots..

Slack - For talking to my homies, innit

iScanner - allows you to take a pic of a document and turn it into PDF, pretty cool...

Decibel 10th - for telling me how loud an exhaust is...

aha so has mine, do you hard wire the iphone to it for deezer ,I was hoping to bluetooth it

If you travel by air a fair bit then I would recommend Flightradar24.

Wife uses it to know when to the leave the house (and kick out the milkman :hand:) when I'm flying home from London. As soon as my flight is overhead the Isle of Man she heads off and arrives as I'm leaving the airport. Great app.

Would also recommend 911UK but there doesn't appear to be one............yet.

Vehicle Smart for checking car MOT and mileage history. Also for keeping track of your car tax status and when your MOTs are due.

Must say that I have cut down my use of Apps recently - i think I am de-teching.

But regular apps I use:

Siri - to name that tune instead of Shazam
Runkeeper - keep a log of my runs (used since 2009)
Lark - to check on my overall health etc
Health App (Apple) - check overall steps etc

Uber - good taxi service - used it in many UK cities and abroad too.

Banking Apps - Barclays - do more and more on mobile now.

Find Friends - keep a tab on where my kids are.

Whatsapp - chatter

Skybet - cheeky flutter.

BBC SPORT - has good notification for sports that I follow

ADT - set house alarm when we've forgotten.

Cant actually remember last time I downloaded a new app....

Don't use Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or any of those.

Revolut- with physical mastercard for free bank exchange rate to $ and €
Strava - for tracking runs and bike rides
WhatsApp
Amazon prime video
Scannable - for scanning receipts when claiming business expenses
Various airlines for electronic ticketing
ISS spotter
BT sport
