Great little things in this day and age and don't half help make life easier and more fruitful. I'm always on the look out for any wizzy apps that come in to good use so thought I'd do a thread on them so people can share their box of tricks.
Here's some of my current favourites:
National Rail - Plots location of all UK trains, finds your location, tells you arrival times, etc. Enables you to have a swifty in The Station Pub across the road due to 20 mins delay.
Bus Scout - As above but on the buses.
Shazam - Trainspotter's paradise, for finding the name of that wonderful track on the dancefloor or in a lift.
Sky+ - check out what's on the box tonight whilst walking the dog, then by chance, see there's some awesome documentary about to start and hit that record button so you don't miss it. Also enables your phone to work as your sky remote for when the GF is demanding she watches the end of sewing Bee and hides the remote whilst TVX freeview is on.
BBC weather - Usually pretty accurate and helps you prevent getting wet or burning your bonce.
Photobucket - Quick and easy to use, unlike the pc version, for doing those quick photo posts on 911uk.com
Uber - Had it for years but only of any use round here at Manchester. Will hopefully be getting some hammer next month in St Tropez though as it's telling me a taxi home is 18 euros instead of the obligatory 60 euros.
The National Lottery - Instantly scans your ticket and tells you whether you need to get up in the morning or go on a 5 day bender to celebrate.
There's plenty of others I use: Banking apps, social media, milling speed/feed calculator, 0-60/30-70 timer, imdb, etc. but I'm guessing everyone knows about them.
So members, what do you recommend adding to everyone's little black box?
