Guys i would appreciate your thoughts on a bit of OPC naughtiness. 9 months ago i bought my 997.2 ....top dollar for an excellent car. At the time of purchase i was assured it had full PSH which it has (fully logged on their computer system). However when i asked to see the service book i was told they did not have it to hand but would forward it to me in due course. Paid for and took posession of the car.....only to receive a REPLACEMENT service book .... all dates and mileages taken off their computer records. Bit disappointed but ho-hum ..have been around enough corners to realise this world aint perfect. But just now...after 9 months and a chance chat with a prestige car dealer (specialising in ferraris) I am now thinking this may be "a bit of an issue" if / when i decide to sell. Any advice greatly appreciated.

The whole incident is disappointing but as long as the stamps in the book are backed up by the OPC system no prospective buyer should be concerned.

I totally agree with the comments above as I had a very similar issue a few years ago with my DB7. I bought from a specialist who promised the service book would follow.
In the absence of the service book I was comforted by the huge stack of invoices that were present to back up the claimed history.

When the service book arrived in the post it was clearly a` continuation` book and all the signatures were in the same hand but at different venues, so unless the previous owners had stalked a particular service manager up and down the country it just looked wrong!
A quick phone call to Aston and they confirmed all the service dates and types were correct and even sent me a letter to acknowlege our conversation and the fact that the service book was as good as the original in content.
When I came to sell it simply wasn`t an issue, absolutely nobody was in the least concerned by the book and were, rather like myself, much more interested in the invoices that accompanied it.

Thanks for the replies. I know the servicing and mileage copied into the replacement book are genuine...but there are no invoices or prior mot certs. Perhaps i should ask opc for computer printout of service and maintenance details ? Not sure how posessive they are on this info. Can't imagine why they should be ? Maybe ferrari purchasing is different re. a folder full of poly-pockets.

What "explanation" did the OPC give for not having the original in their possession. If they "lost" it I don't see how they can refuse a print out.

I got the OPCs to print out the missing servicing work for my car last year. They were a little hesitant at first due to customer confidentiality, but once I had told them the customers names and addressees, as I already had these, they were happy to email me the service details. My car had been to three OPCs for work so a bit of ringing around was required!

Slightly unusual circumstance in that the opc salesman's dad was the previous owner (was very happy that i was virtually dealing with the previous owner of 4 yrs).. So opc more relaxed than usual about not having book.
