Starting problems

I had a 150mile drive on Friday night (quite spirited :D), on arrival around midnight i parked up on the street then realised I was a bit too protective of the alloys and needed to get closer. It only just started, sounding like a dead battery could hardly turn it over.
Left it saturday and on return at lunchtime today it only just started (slow crank). Had a great drive back home in the sun and parked on the drive for a wash. About an hour later it would not turn over. Put it on the charger and 2 hours later it just fired up.
So, is this the well known starter motor cable causing hot start problems? Battery is only a couple of years old.
Cheers

Do you have a Moll battery? They give up there ghost before 3 years. Unless you have a Porsche warranty, you may want to fit an after market replacement.

if the battery is in good condition and not too old, probably the usual cable to the starter motor! Check condition of the battery first and for any bad connections.

Update. . .
Problem was persistant - to the point where after a 1 hour drive, after switching off it eould not start! Standard solution is to replace the cable which means dropping the engine
Called zentrum who are not too far from me and they have a fix which doesnt need the engine out so it went in today. It now turns over faster on starting and shows zero deteriation when hot - result :D and <£200  - fantastic job.

I replaced the clutch switch on mine a few weeks back and all seemed well until the last couple of days where starting is very hit and miss,

New cable for me i think. Would love to know what the fix is? I'm guessing solenoid and a bypass cable?

There are no new parts, they have developed an in situ fix related to the cable via some specialist tooling. No guarantee it will last forever, but they claim to have done quite a few and none have come back. If you give them a call i'm sure he will explain more.

I know there was a recall on the gen2 for a faulty clutch switch when starting . sounds like the gen1 may have a bit as well.

It sounds to me like they are removeing the starter motor cable connection and fitting a new end .. on a Tiptronic then thats a very good call as its an expensive job to change the cable .. i think on a manual though i would recomend a replacement cable .
