Knew It would not be long before my luck would show up.

Having a pit in my garage means that once every couple of weeks I inspect the underside of the car. A couple of days a go I noticed a some oil around the NSF of the PDK sump. The bolts seemed very loose so I've tightened them up. Took it for a 500 mile test drive - as you do - and although its still leaking, it's a very small amount - maybe less than a 1/4 of a teaspoon.

Got in booked in with Sid on Saturday for a new sump pan (which is the filter) and oil change.

Hopefully that will sort it.

Apart from that, the last 10,000 miles have been faultless, much better than my old 996. I'd spent over £4,000 on that before it got to 10K.

Could be worse as you say.

Hope it is just as simple to fix

:D

Taking it to the right place. The lively thing about Sid is if that's all it needs, that's all he suggests :thumb:

Deja vu mon brav -- had mine just over 2 years = spent £lots to to enjoy (without bore bloody issues)

The devil looked down on you with your engine hell - a track record that  - trudge and drive on :worship:

Footnote - do you ever fanny about with engine oil ?

DOH :duh:

Sid has been very helpful to me too, even though I'm 200 miles away!

Top chap!

I TRUST Revolution at Brighouse - Not selfish but the bore score issues ruined driving pleasure until I realised Porsche are good. Audi high spec TT are like driving a clinic . Europa twin cams . Caterham 7'S along with Porsche 911 :bandit: are my love

10,000 miles - wow! I thought you had only had your gen 2 a few months.... Where have you been??
Or has it been much longer....?

Mine had oil traces around there, but was actually leaking from above there and running down.

What did you have to do?

997 coast: I change the oil every 5k

They used the white spray to prove the leak and we could see it was coming from the fluid level hole above. Porsche don't do any work on the actual gearbox and the source was a seal leaking within the box, allowing oil to reach the level hole.

At this point they were happy for me to pop back and keep topping it up. That didn't really suit me. I take the car to Europe and didn't want to have problems on holiday.

A ZF specialist could probably sort the gearbox. The only Porsche option is replacement which is what I did.

Les - may have seen your 997 at Sid's yesterday morning - Looked very tidy!

Hope all sorted now!
