Now I have cash in the bank following the sale of my car and finally on the hunt for the best 997 C2S I can buy.

Any hints/tips very much appreciated.

Take your time. :thumb:

Decide what spec you want, look around and further afield than you might normally (the first drive home after pick up is unforgettable). Then, if not an OPC buy (with warranty etc), get her checked thoroughly.

Good luck with the hunt.

iirc your budget is c£30k.

I'd be looking for a sensible mileage 07 car with good history for that money. There's plenty out there so decide on your 'must have' spec wise and your preferred colour combo and concentrate on searching for those.

If you find one outside of a recognised Porsche specialist make sure you get one to give it a PPI.

Happy Hunting. :thumb:

A C2S with a full Hartech rebuild would be a sensible and worry free option!

I was in a similar position to you best advice I can give is save a few grand more and get a gen2 car.

You might not find an S but the non S gen2 is great car.

There was a lovely orange one for sale a little while ago...link to follow.

The Gen 1 is also a great car! It really depends on budget as the facelift cars are still commanding a healthy premium - a budget increase of 30% is not always realistic (I'd be driving something different if it were!). The purchase price difference is often more than a rebuild. A pre purchase inspection is vital on any of these. I'd prefer a well loved Gen 1 to a high mileage Gen 2.

Agree with this...i was in the same position and decided to get a high spec, later lower miles gen 1

Best advice of the day!! :thumb:

Gen 2 prices will be dropping like flies over the next two years - watch this space.

It's not 'how much can you afford' rather more 'how much can you afford to lose'.

Just do a search on YCP, even on this forum.....

I wouldn't go anywhere near them.

What's your budget - and what is must haves, and like to haves...
