My car is running beautifully, and has done for ages

Just been out in my 996 and ticked over 128k miles. It doesn't get used so much these days as I car share to work but every drive is a pleasure.

Every thing works and has done for ages now, perfect air con, windows roll down without squeaking, no knocks over speed bumps, no wet carpets, nothing.

The engine is sweet with no untoward rattles, just effortless naturally aspirated power.

If I'm being critical the paintwork shows its 18 years, but I prefer to call it patina.

Thats all, just thought I'd counter all the January doom and gloom on here :D

The Porsche 996.1 3.4. The most reliable 911 ever :thumb:

Took mine out for the first time since a while before xmas today, being a beautiful day definitely helped, but it ran like a dream too. I know it's got fewer years and miles under its belt, but still, I was really happy to be back behind its wheel.

Ha ha, I'm the same. I've been using the 911 for the last couple of weeks after the daily BMW decided that the autobox should feature a metallic clonk into 4th gear as standard, and it's been really very nice to get into it every morning and evening. The weather has even given it a nice patina of road filth and salt.

I'm obviously waiting for the inevitable oval bores/dead nuns and kittens that comes with 3.6 ownership but I shall continue to enjoy it up until that point. Then I shall probably cry and sell it.

Use them gents my 997 was ultra reliable until I bought a daily and turned it into a weekend car.

On 155k/miles now , apart from a small puff of smoke on cold start-up and thats if its stood for several days, the engine runs like a well-oiled clock and is as quiet as a church mouse. :thumb:

Same here, ( a few less miles at just over 98K). Runs like new, no rattles or squeaks. Just use it a couple of times a week, drive it hard & enjoy it.

Oil get changed over 6k.

Once a day minimum here

Engine's sweet as a nut - 110k on the clock.

Had the car a nearly a year - Daily driven.
Just clocked 137k km.
Drove home yesterday and it was 38.5c / 100f.
No problem temp sat on the 0 of the 80 - didn't move.
Bit of smoke now and then and 2-3 seconds of chain rattle on start up.
Always find a bit of space for a blast..
Been good so far - only AOS last year.
Car lives on my drive.
Makes me smile every day!!

I have a 140k mile 996.2 C2. It seems to be in pretty good shape (just bought it a month ago). RMS was done, IMS seems to be original still. Fingers crossed!

Driven mine a lot over the past 10-days; barely used her at all in December.

Coming up fast on 80k miles now and she runs as sweet as a dream. Just love driving it... :thumb:

Use mine as a daily. No problems to report except it's dirty.
De mister works a treat. It's a very and the bum warmers are lovely on these cold mornings.
I open the fuel flap more than the engine lid and that's how it should be. 92,000 miles and climbing- 3.6 tiptronic. My old 996 3.4 manual had over 200,000 miles on it when I traded it for this one with no issues too.
Using them is the way to go.

I had a conversation with a family member over the Xmas hols regarding my "old car" and how silly it was spending a large sum of money on having another engine built for it. Pointing out I'd driven over 200K miles without it ever stranding me and when the costs were amalgamated it had cost me less each month to drive a very modified Porsche 911, including buying it, than it had cost them to lease a diesel Audi in a sporty frock put an end to that conversation :floor:

The 3.4 996 is an utter bargain really, even with the prices creeping up as they are!

Me too. Mine used as a daily, take kids to school then on to work. Key for me is having a good specialist although apart from socially I haven't had to see mine inbetween services.
