I recently got a very serious itch for a new turbo which led me to scour the adverts for hours on end looking for the perfect car which would scratch that itch.
After hours of reflection, drafting and re-drafting adverts to sell my car it struck me that I would effectively be compromising on something no matter what type of 911 turbo I went for. Whilst the 997's may be newer and may (depending on your viewpoint) be a slight improvement on most areas over the 996, I couldn't find a car which had exactly what I wanted. The only one which comes close is an ES750 car at Redline in Yorkshire at £80+k. That would mean an outlay of at least another £40k on top of my car to get something similar/better than mine in terms of performance and braking, but still be a compromise in other areas such as the way the rear end looks, the mondeo interior, and the average in car entertainment. I have also been re-inspired by the amazing things people (Tom & FRP) are doing to their cars.
Based on this, it surely is the sensible thing to do to look again at what I've already got and re-acquaint myself with it. I'd not even washed it for months so I took todays mild weather as a 'sign' and got out there and gave the old girl (and her sister) a good scrub - with suds and everything!

I often think that giving a car a good clean is a great way to get to know it well. Going over mine with its immaculate bodywork, lovely 380mm front rotors which you don't often find on 996's, sitting just right on 997 wheels (which I personally love) and flowing lines has reminded me just how much I love this car!
My accountant has also been very nice to me this month so I may even get the tip box removed and sent to Germany for upgrading ready for a new round of power mods. I still need to get out there and give her a good blast but need to wait for the salt to be washed away before I do this.
Its safe to say that my search for another 911 is on hold. For now...
Guys (you know who you are), thanks for helping me see sense!
