Fabricating Custom 964 Rear Arch Liners

Hi chaps

I never really understood why Porsche didn't have these on the 964. The 993 has smaller ones but both like my old S2000 collected bucket loads of dirt in the rear bumper and in the latter case adds to the corrosion around the sills.

Before I've put this out i did a search on the forum here to see if anyone has a similar article to the Rennlist link below.

http://rennlist.com/forums/964-forum/744869-964-refurb-53.html

After recently seeing the 964 Hot Rod sell at JZM i am deliberating if i can get some custom rear arch liners fabricated unless someone on here as already done the hard work.

Anybody?

easiest way is to make a cardboard template, and buy some thin aluminium sheet.
Cut out with a tin snip to shape, and mount them in there :)

If i can find the time this holiday period, i'm gonna do one better and see if i can get a set made in carbon (using the cardboard method you described  ). Just wanted to determine if anyone else had already done this in the UK.

Oh well, watch this space....

We'll all be wanting a set so make them good :thumb:

There was a chap on here had made carbon ones, but then binned the moulds...

Shouldn't be too hard once you've made a template.

Just looked at your link... Yes it was Rob!.. Lovely job.

roger harradine made the ones on the white JZM car (it was his, i think he sold it through them earlier this year - its back quickly!). I did ask about a production run when it was mentioned on a 964 group facebook thread but all went quiet. I would be a keen buyer also - anyone on here in contact with roger?

Yes i saw them firsthand on the car at JZM.
Very clever as well as they were not one piece liners. Consisted of 2 separate pieces on either side that channel the air through the back while keeping the muck out of the bumper.

I contacted the new owner to see if i could trace a them to create a template, but alas no reply from him... :dont know:

I want to set about creating a set but as my 964 is in Lancashire is anyone free and willing for me to have access to a car so i can trace the molds to fit.
Anyone free in Bucks this month...?

dude, you cant trace them to make moulds, you need to shape them to the inner arches.

I know that!!! :frustrated:

I've already done a 101 on making molds out of carbon however i am using cardboard to get a rough idea of the shape and then transferring the shape to either carbon or some kind of plastic.

In fact using CF doesn't really make sense but i need a donor car otherwise will have to wait until new year when i'm up in Lancashire.
