Related to Steve's thread, what plans do you have for work / mods on your cars in 2017, away from regular maintenance?

I'll start:

- Full brake refresh including discs, pads, shims, wires and a caliper refurb (probably with Pro-calipers). The calipers aren't bad at all, but I figure at 21 years old, they might not be operating at their best.

I'm thinking 200 cell cats and a remap should keep me interested.

Pro-calipers refurbished my calipers and did a good job. I found out after I had already talked to Thomas that he's also done a lot of work for the Indy I use and they spoke very highly of Pro-calipers.

Gunner - were you looking at the Addspeed (?) cats?

I was thinking Powerspeed

RS bilsteins and springs - i.e. pretty much what the road-spec GT2s were fitted with. When I find out the price I may well change this from a plan to a wish list! More achievable would be a trip Centre Gravity. I also need to sort all the nit-picky little things that Steve kindly pointed out...

i've recently noticed the dreaded bubbling around the drivers side windscreen. The irony is that it was repaired before i purchased the car a few years ago.

Obviously not fixed properly and with Zenith Blue, it looks like i'm gonna have to get the bonnet and wings sprayed to match the colour.

Anyone have experience of a garage in the Bucks area who can do it properly...?
JZM would be by first choice but they subcontract out to another company that i don't rate particularly highly due to cost and past experience.

Where exactly are you based? Not Bucks but not a million miles away:

Prime Paint & Body in Harlow get great reviews and he's worked on loads of 911s. He does all the paintwork for my specialist (WaffZuff), including full rebuilds. If you look at their Facebook page you'll get a good idea of what they can do.

Fastlane in St Albans do loads of work for OPCs. I'm sure they're great but you'll pay up for it.

Harpenden Classic in Performance in...erm...Harpenden, are great and I've used many times. Kieron is really hands on, honest and good value. Results are good.

ETA - use Glassman (Glasstech) to refit the windscreen. He's North London so not that far.

Autofarm has done a lot of work on my car over the last 11 years including rust treatment. I'm happy with the quality but you will pay for the privilege.

I've heard good things about Fastlane from a BMW forum.

I need to get my a/c sorted. I have a couple of bubbles on the top of the near side wing to address and I have some led fog lights and brake ducts to be painted and installed. Also, discovered moisture and discolouration in the rear reflector. Would like to do led install where lamps are available for inside and out. May also be replacing worn carpet at door thresholds.

I am also in the queue for front scuttle rust repair.... and plan to treat her to some Michelin Cup2s....

Lig.

JZM now sub out to Fastlane

I've had numerous paint issues with JZM's previous local sprayer (as did a friend), however they did a door check strap for me that was flawless

I had some cosmetic work done by Fastlane before leaving London, all good but expensive, they cut me a bit of a deal after a bit of wrangling

I'd give Harpenden a shot

Hope it goes well, whatever route you choose

It turns out RS Bilsteins are not too dear: £340+VAT each st the front £348+VAT each at the rear. They would need RS top mounts as well of course. Maybe I should go the whole hog and order a sports chassis kit :?:

Sports chassis kit turbo

I wouldn't get too excited about a turbo sports chassis kit, I've had one on order for a year and no sign of delivery yet, and then there the price about six k plus vat! Wait until it's back In stock , it will probably jump up to ten k!

Good luck!
Christian

New lenses as in front indicator and spots ........ and rear brake light clusters ........ also sorting out some slight bubbling on the rear edge of the front wheel arches and new rear wheel arch stone chips guards ...... plus a few other bits and bobs.
