Hi all!! I have a 2003 911 996 c4s coupe. Tiptronic. Firstly hello! Can't believe how chuffed I am with my car! Without doubt the best car I have ever bought! I got it from here too from fellow member Michael wilks! I litterally cannot stop driving the car! Going to have to increase my limited mileage very soon!!

Unfortunately have a little problem I can't seem to get to the bottom of... wondering if any of you genius guys/girls can help???

Basically it keeps popping the fuse 7.5amp Fuse (B5 in the fuse box). I've checked the reverse bulbs they are fine. I can also replace the fuse and the mirrors work fine. It's not until I put the car in reverse it pops the fuse.

It's also worth mentioning that the car has memory electric seats and the memory doesn't want to work either!? And the oil level sensor has been replaced recently by Porsche specialist but now is failing once again?? Maybe these issues could all be connected?

Any help is a huge blessing! Finding this a bit of an annoyance!

Thanks in advance!

Dan

The B5 fuse also runs the memory control unit modules (CU MEMORY)

I would investigate them, particularly with a view to water ingress.

Good luck

If the fuse blows when as soon as you put it in reverse then I'd start there. But also if other items are not working that are fed from that then that is interesting. Have you got a copy of the wiring diagram?

911tom has pretty much covered it so not much left for me :D

Take the reverse light bulbs out and see if it still blows .. if it does then you need to check the wire from the reverse light switch to the bulbs as its shorting out .

Any other system on that fuse would have no impact on it blowing when you select reverse .

Ive seen wrong bulbs fitted and the base connection bent which can cause this sort of thing .

Hi, I have seen this previously on a 996.

Check the wiring as has been already said. Check it closely where the wiring comes out of the switch and goes near the support frame for gearbox it may be chaffed there.

Mike

Have a great weekend

Thanks
