For those of you interested;

The correct bearing can be found here for a good price;

Manufacturer: FAG / SFK
Type: Double Row Angular Contact Bearing, Sealed
Side; 15 x 35 x 15.9 mm
Part number: 3202-BD-2HRS-TVH / 3202 2RS /

~ £18 / each and free shipping. Beats £60+ replacement items from porsche or OEM...

Just a case of pressing out the old and pressing in the new..

Freezing the bearing and heating the pulley may help.

I'll post some info when i do mine.

Great tip, but mine failed 2 months ago :)

Ended up doing all 3, plus belt!

Hi thanks for the tip here.

Does anybody you know if the bearings above are the correct spec for both idlers, and the tensioner.

I have a 996.2 C4 manual

I was previously looking at the Hamburg ones on design911 for £50 each, these all have different part numbers, so assumed there was a difference.

Many thanks

The bearings can only be replaced in the metal pulleys.
I can't remember how many are metal, 1 maybe 2.
The plastic moulded over the bearing cannot be replaced.
The bearings I specify are the correct spec. Identical to originals for the metal pulleys.
Very simple to press out and in.

rockauto.com will do a pair of new dayco brand idler pulleys complete for about £50 delivered, I fitted some to mine 10 minute job and quietened the engine down (old bearings dead).
£50 delivered from the states? Rockauto are US based right?

Or £18 each shipped? For the same FAG / SFK bearings hat Porsche use..

:?: :dont know: why would you use a more expensive non standard bearing?

Which ones in this pic can be replaced with the bearings you mention.

Hi

Would these fit a 996 tt?

:thumbs:

Hi. Just had to replace one of mine, didn't see this until after I had bought one. Quick measure up and the bearings are the same in the turbo. I'm going to get a set in and replace the others during winter
Thanks Neil :thumb:
