It can be coded to ..

Off
Lock with ignition on
Lock after drive off ( 5 mph )

Check PCM settings for auto lock .. i thought there was a function there to set it ( cant rember off hand )

You can have drivers door only unlock or both doors.

You can alter the time duration of auto lock function

You can alter the time duration for pressing a key button .. ie set it to long duration ( 1100 millisecs) and if pressed in say your pocket by accident it wont unlock your car.

Found this list on coding options ...

A quick question on this subject, to enable and disable these settings what device or software can we use? Is it any device that can be purchased? If so where can it be purchased?

Cheers

Thanks !! Have to say, the price looks very healthy. :) isnt there any other companies that does anthing similar but cheaper?

Edit: - found one below, would this be any good for coding??

I believe the Durametric Pro version of these is the most feature rich for being able to code things on/off or change them, otherwise its a piwis or something else at workshop level.

Here's a list of coding options/features I pulled from my car:

What I like about Durametric is you can save a back up copy of your coding which means you can always go back to a known good configuration. It's quite a safe tool to use if used with a degree of care. I don't know anything about the eBay tool but did see someone on here a little while ago that managed to trash their configuration on their ecu by using a deal tool so just tread carefully.

As Matt Seabrook pointed out , you can get a cheap ? copy of the PIWIS that will alter coding .. and it can alter ANYTHING .. a little iffy as i ended up chatting to that poor guy on the phone and tryed to help him .. luckily it wasn't too bad but it is possible to wipe the entire coding from a car gen 2 onwards and its a longish job manually putting it all back in.

Gen 1 are not so bad as you code individual control units .. my way of thinking is your not going to code anything very often , unless you have a habbit of replaceing control units , so do you actually need to buy one ?

Sit down with a tech , pay an hours labour and he can go through every option there are for your car , probably get a VHC at the same time :)

-- 997 -- that ebay tool wont alter coding .. it says it can program .. erm .. i wouldn't :)

I have a Durametric. There are two options, one that gives you only 3 different cars to use it on, and the unlimited version that works on as many cars as you want. I bought mine when I was in Hawaii (had it shipped out). Made it much cheaper.

My locks are off in my 911 so they don't lock. I think it's tied to my PCM because they stopped working after I fitted the PCM3. But I preferred it so I left it that way. They still lock in my Boxster though.

Has anyone coded the DRL's on a 997.2 to be on all the time, rather than the thin light when you turn the headlights on like th 991 does?

I think I like the 997 DRLs as they are but I can see why someone might do that if possible through coding. Might be a wiring job.
