Smart Repair my Wheels

My 997.2 is my daily driver, it's in really good condition but not a garage queen. My front wheels have some damage on the forward face of the spokes.

But, none of the wheels have ever been curbed, and the rears are perfect, so I'd struggle to justify full refurbs.

Has anyone got any experience of having wheels smart repaired? Is it worthwhile, or false economy?

Personally, I'd just have at least the front two wheels refurbed (ideally all four).
What's the cost difference? Probably refurb around £70 per wheel + VAT but it will be full strip back, repair, base powder coat, spray and lacquer.

The Smart repair is probably a cosmetic gloss-over used by car dealerships to prep cars for sale and offers speed and convenience rather than a huge price difference. It is unlikely to last given it is mainly cosmetic in my opinion.

Don't know where you are but Lepsons in Kent has a good name and my Indy recommends The Wheel Specialists (TWS) which has nationwide branches.
My local Mercedes Benz dealer uses Prestige Wheels.

Online quote from TWS. Ignore the quote and they will come back with a tempting discount. Ignore this once again and they will come back again with an even more tempting final offer as "we have some slots that we can offer at a truly discounted price next week"

Someone who has used Smart repairs may be along to share their experience, I've only ever refurbed on the basis the price difference is probably not too much and prefer a total solution rather than cosmetic make-over.

I just took another look on my PC of that close-up rather than on my phone.
It looks like corrosion. A refurb is the best fix for corrosion. Check the entire inner rims of all 4 wheels and see if you can see any other areas of corrosion.

Thanks for the replies, I agree, the damage probably started as simple stone chips but the area is bubbling and there are parts where the paint is flaking off. I can't see how a smart repair is going to fix this, one winter and they'll be flaking again.

Just discovered http://www.exelwheels.co.uk/, looks like a great option

Exel uses Lepsons in Kent.
