Anyone got one or had one? I am considering the petrol model... I don't want diesel. How is it to live with? How reliable has it been?

Yes we're on our second now. They're really good, I'm lead to believe that the early ones had problems. There's a forum for them I think it's baby range rover. This time round we went for the Autobiography. The new 9gear autobox diesel is a lot better on fuel. The first one drank like a fish.
Ask any questions you want to know who I'll be glad to help.

Ooh fab thx. So question:

What is leg room like in the back? And is there much of a view out of that narrow side window for 9year old daughters?

Did you get a decent discount on yours? Any must have options?

Are there any dealers renowned for great deals?

What is the lead time like?

Thx!

We have a 9 speed diesel, we have done about 6k in it so far, handles great, stops really well, soaks up crap roads and in sport goes well enough. My wife loved them but originally I wasn't convinced until I drove one, they are pretty good and so easy to drive. Fuel consumption is very good with the 9 speed. Anything you want to know just ask.

Yep, bought a new Dynamic SD4 18 months ago, no issues so far with reliability, interior is great quality, Diesel engine is reasonable, new 9speed auto box is very good. Was a choice between this and the Macan, think Macan is a better drivers car, but Mrs preferred the Evoque look and image... Spec for spec the Macan would be more expensive, but arguably would hold its value slightly better...

Rear legroom is reasonable, I'm 6'2" and have seat quite far back though another me would struggle to sit behind me, would accommodate children adults to under 6' no problem.

Discounts very hard to come by, as waiting list still around 6 months I believe...

Must have options:
Auto
Glass roof (though doesn't open)
Dynamic suspension (magnetic similar to Audi R8 makes the handling and ride much better)
Memory seats (if you share driving with your partner)

Jaguar X Pace is worth a look, a bit sportier and bigger, can be had with a wide range of engines too...

My daughter wanted me to buy one. I talked her round. Fancied the full fat version but not the price. Settled on a Cayenne. Probably too big for your needs if you're looking at Evoque.

Chap at work (male) had one and people never stopped taking the piss. He sold it and bought an MX5

Engines supposed to be 'antique' at least the derv. Wont petrol version drop like a stone :dont know:

Knowing what I know now, too many gears in a Tiptronic box does not lead to a smooth ride :what:

Fab thx Jeff. I need to test one. I thought they were ugly at first. Now I think they're handsome.

I too fancy the macan BUT the wait list is too long (I think) and the size is on the 'big side' of what I want.

The Evoque seems to be tardis-like: short in length but with best in class boot volume and adequate (??) leg room front and back. I love the form-factor. I don't want to drive a big car. I like that I can park a smaller car in more places...

I love the f-pace but the will be 10k more for comparable sec and again the wait list will be too long... And it is BIG.

Thx :thumb:

One of my mates got fed up of his Aston Martin costing a fortune for 8 miles per day, so dumped the Supercar for a new Evoque. It spent 3 months in the dealers trying to sort out the issues ( while he drove around in a peugeot 106 ), they eventually gave him a full refund

Right. The cayenne is too big. Sadly.

As for ridicule potential, I'll live with that. I enjoyed an mx5 for 2 years in my younger days :)

I think the diesel version is a new engine now ingenium or some such thing. The petrol has a GFV of c. 50% after 3 years based on LR's online finance calcs. I can live with that.

Also looks like 3k is achievable off list price via car wow or similar.

Was your mates car petrol or diesel? And we're the issues with engine or suspension or electrics? Thx

I think the Evoque is a tart's car 100% My Mrs. wanted one which was fine until I realized I'd be driving it from time to time. . . . Errr, nope.
I've persuaded her to have a Macan S or GTS (which totally spanks the Evoque in all areas btw) despite the ridiculous lead time.

Perhaps. But, it's at least 10-15k more for similar spec and I am not so sure it'll be as easily received by clients when I rock up in it. That matters. I'll never rock up in the 911 for the same reason.

I tried the 2 door diesell version for a change from the jags I normally get. My thoughts , door aperture too small as seats high kept banging head on the door opening on entry( I'm just over 6 ft tall) Access to rear dreadful but as only 2 of us not a problem. My son used it for a while and could not get daughter into car seat easily ' not family freiendly ' was his view. Did go away for long weekend with my sister and brother in law. Rear boot too small, just got away with weekend luggage. Again acces to rear poor
As a diesel only averaged 32 mpg over period I owned it. Though gearbox calibration not too good had harsh roll out shifts and occasional delay on change.
We had full glass roof that was superb, build quality overall very good but attention to detail on alignments could do with more focus. Check out rear hatch position gapping not consistent
Good quirky looking car but in my opinion bit too small to be main car
