Hi lads,

been after a GT3 for a while now and I think I have found a decent one which I have placed a deposit down on. The car still has Porsche warranty but I have asked the independent dealer to send the car to Porsche Brooklands to do the 111 point inspection on the car and check some additional info such as rev ranges etc.

This is the car here : http://www.alexanderdavid.co.uk/used-cars/porsche-911-mk-997-3-6-gt3-2dr-ascot-201508266369211

Dealer gets mixed reviews but the last owner was for 4 years. Reg is GT03YYY but I believe looking at HPI it had GT03POR on the car at one point.

Any help or thoughts would be appreciated

Looks nice.My advice would be to find out any previous registration numbers and google those and the VIN number. Also try to verify that it is a genuine clubsport. This should be on the original invoice.

Ask the same question on PH.The last thing you want is for you to show everyone a picture of your new pride and joy and someone posts a picture of it stuffed into an Armco barrier or on it's roof! This has happened recently so you really can't be too careful.

Think trying to buy an honest Cosworth in the 90's and you will get an idea of the challenge. :thumb:

Hi Mate,

I have done the google search on previous reg's and thankfully nothing comes up. In all honesty my search seems to be coming up with no information (Which is suppose is good)

Hopefully the Porsche checks tomorrow will shed some light on things. I was going to use Parr or RPM for the checks but they are over an hour away from the dealer and with it being under warranty I thought the OPC might be the best bet.

Hi - just be aware that the 111 point check does NOT include any checks on body work for accidents or repairs. You can ask them specifically to look into this. Personally I do not beilieve OPCs are very good with body/repair inspections...if you are lucky they may be able to do a paint depth guage measurement.

I would ask them to give some attention to the above. If they refuse then I would look for an independent (non-OPC Porsche specialist) inspection.

I had dealings with Alexander David Motor Co a few yrs ago when trying to buy a 996 4S. Lovely car, seemed like a very straight bunch, sadly we could not meet on PX value.

Hope you enjoy it- looks a great car!

You're much better off getting a good indy to do a check.

I had a 111 point check done last year for warranty renewal, all clear, then 3 weeks later I remembered I needed an MOT (one of those wake up in the morning wondering moments!!), took it back to the same OPC and they came up with a few small bits and pieces that needed doing for the MOT that were clearly there 3 weeks earlier but not picked up on.

I've bought both my current and previous GT3's from 911V, each time Tom has took me around the car showing me the various factory stamps/welds/bits and pieces that can as much as ever is possible confirm the car is as it left the factory. A good indy will do the same for you but a 111 point check won't

Looks a nice car though, white is a great colour on the Gen1, but I've since found out black is faster on Gen2 :D

Hope it works out well :thumb:

Thanks for that and I do agree. I find myself not wanting to "inconvenience" the garage too much by asking them to take it too parr or rpm who are over an hour away. I can't help myself :nooo:

Errrr you're the customer about to spend a huge sum of money with their establishment... The least they can do is accommodate your request...

If not then would suggest they maybe have something to hide...

Good luck with it, looks a cracking car

I know, I just don't like asking

Will see what Porsche brooklands say tomorrow for starters at least

I bought from Alexander David and they were very decent to deal with. They did everything they said they would do EXCEPT put the private plate on the car which it seems they could at that time no longer do. I think things have changed again in that regard now.

I would buy from them again.

Looking at the price of the car, have GT3 prices cooled down a little :dont know:

Who invited Zingari into the GT forum..??? :D

52k + mileage - this seems a good price although not overly "cheap"

The heat has definitely left the market recently - but prices remain on the rise, just not at the rate seen before. This is good right?
