OPC warranty - can't fault it!

So 2 weeks ago i had a specialist garage do a full independent healthcheck on my car, simply to see if there was anything that needed doing that my OPC may have tried to turn a blind eye to (suspicious mind)

The feedback was a gearbox leak, engine leak, steering rack leak & play in the rack.

Apparently some OPC's can be funny about fixing things like this as its not officially failed when its only leaking!

Anyways, i got hold of my local OPC expecting to be fobbed off but was pleasantly suprised! They had me booked in within 48hrs, within 1 day of diagnosis agreed I needed a new steering rack FOC as well as FOC "parts" to resolve the oil leaks ( they said the gearbox leak was actually a second engine leak that had trickled down)

A week later the car was sorted. They had to drop the engine and they confirmed it was 2 seals on the oil pump that had perished which is very rare Im told?

The worst part of the ordeal was driving a 981 boxster S for a week, its an amazing bit of kit and seriously had me looking at p/x-ing my turbo in. That PSE and sports plus mode is fantastic!

Definately worth the £1100 per year for the warranty and its a shame I can only buy one more years worth.

Told you so :thumb:

Nice you got it all sorted. Must have given you a warm fuzzy feeling all over! :D

The new Boxsters are amazing cars aren't they!

Hate to think what it would have cost you without the warranty - well north of that I suspect.

Chirs.

I hope you weren't driving with the top down on a cold day!!! :floor:

How were they when you said an indie found all the issues? I've 4 months left to run on mine and it's in its 8th year and would like to get it checked for any problems and have them rectified before it runs out.

My car has spent more time in the workshop than on the road since September.

Probably get shot down for saying it, but the OPC warranty is certainly the "gold standard" of warranties. £1100 peace of mind. :D

Not by me. After 8 months I'm £14k up on the deal.

It'll make the decision to renew so much easier.

Nigel99 - it's be rude not to! To be fair there it was sunny/warm up north last sunday so I just had to!

kempis, - i reckon a bit of it is to do with your relationship with the OPC to be honest, at the end of the day though, it was just a fresh pair of eyes that had raised the issues and they were fine with it.

Nice work!

Just like any other warranty they make a tidy profit out of those who don't claim during the period.

It certainly is useful for those who need it though!

I wouldn't touch any other warranty with a barge pole. They aren't worth the paper they are written on..

Certainly makes buying a car from OPC worth considering.

If your spending £50k+ to buy your turbo should you not be asking why it needs £14k worth or repairs in 8 months?

Can't fault it, picked mine up today after dodging an £18K engine rebuild bullet.

Not really , any part can break at any time on any car :thumb:

Most of the £15k+ mine's had spent on it was because of this. (i.e a complete Tip' gearbox replacement, done because the original was showing signs of a 'misting' leak).
