My VC for my turbo is broken so it needs rebuilding .

Can anyone recommend a place?

Simon

Simon can I ask how you identified it was broken?

Mike Bourke in Chelford near Knutsford is probably your man....

Sports & Classic

HTH

Try Bara motorsport they specialise in high end rally transmissions.
The old for cosworth boxes use to run a similar VC set up to our cars and I have had Bara build me one of those boxes in the past with rebuilt VC

Ran a full rolling road . The front wheels didn't move at all

Doesnt mean its broken

Give Mike a ring at Sports & Classic.

By the way, I don't think the VC can be rebuilt. I think its a replace item.
But I could be wrong.

I think you are probably right, considering what I've read. I've also seen YouTube videos with 996tts spinning only their rear wheels in the snow. I understand how the 4wd system on the 996 works but don't understand why the front wheels don't move under these circumstances.

PS I had my car on jacks last week and turning either front wheel, also turned a rear wheel. Perhaps this is a basic test?

My understanding is that it's RWD until things get 'hot'?

But that happens very quickly and should show on a rolling road, surely?

Not sure, as there is no load on the front wheels on the rollers as such.

I'd get a second opinion from an Indy before shelling out.

Quite the opposite of the below;

Does anyone know how I can test the 4 wheel drive unit?

I have no error lights or logs

Si

Go out with PSM off and drive really fast, ideally in the wet, if you dont crash/die its working, if it spins round 360 into a tree for a second you will know how a lot of GT2 owners felt !!!

If u die or crash - saves money fixing it :)

Alternatively - give 9excellence a call and ask if its normal re front tyres not moving? Im thinking its due to RWD bias on the car and sensor not picking up a break in traction to send power to the front.
