PPI misses clocked car

So I bought a 997 first gen/gen 1 C2S 2 years ago, did all the research (including on here), bought from a very reputable independent Porsche specialist and even got a pre purchase inspection from one of the top inspection chaps.

After owning it 2 years and a change in jobs, it was time to sell it to a good owner - a friend of a friend. All seemed fine, but when he got his inspection done it revealed the car was clocked.

It surprised me as neither the reputable dealer nor the reputable inspection chap spotted this 2 years ago.

Anyway, the dealer has offered to buy the car back which is a massive relief.
Anyone else had a similar experienced or just my bad luck?

Also would you think I should ask the inspection chap for my money back for missing something like this? :?:

Thoughts welcome...

No redress on the guy who carried out the inspection in my view.
If there were, ask yourself what is your loss that you want to pursue?

Bad luck? Honestly don't know. It depends on how this anomaly came to light two years down the road and what was covered in the inspection.

I would imagine the onus is on the dealer as he should have done all the relevant checks. My best friend bought a 1978 911 Turbo in 1985. After he had owned it for 3 years a finance company came round to repossess it as the dealer who sold it had not settled the finance. My mate stood there with a gallon of petrol and a lighter and said they weren't taking it - he'd burn it first..... needless to say, he still has the car :D

Sad thing is it's laid up in his garage having not been driven for 20 years - still looks like new......

If they haven't pursued the debt for 5 years and done nothing to enforce register it
Then my understanding is there's nothing they can do about it
Certainly worth a HPI check to check the current status

Yes I agree Mark :thumb:
