Afternoon all

I've put a brief post introducing myself in the newbie forum, I'm a new 997 owner on the southcoast with a Gen 1 C2S cab & I'm looking for advice, feedback & experience to help me get the car exactly as I want it, so I have some questions;

The car has a Nav system (Bose stereo) that requires a SIM card to use a mobile phone & I want to use Bluetooth & have IPod connectivity;
Can this be modified using Porsche parts or systems to operate with Bluetooth & IPod?

Can this be upgraded to a Gen 2 & does this work with Bluetooth & IPod?
What's your experience of aftermarket double DIN upgrades?
What's your experience of aftermarket Bluetooth / IPod upgrades?
The car has the steering wheel without controls, I've seen them sold on ebay, can they be retro fitted to my current system

The car has covered 39k miles but I'm assuming its going to need some suspension refreshment. My thoughts are to get a full alignment carried out first to understand the current condition & get everything set correctly, but I'm unsure what route to take that will improve the overall handling, I'm not planning to track the car, it's for my daily commute & some B road, "enthusiastic" driving at weekends

I've been driving M cars for the last 10 years & they are easy to extract the noise they were designed to make. The 997 3.8 in its current standard form (No sports exhaust) sounds a little tame & muted. I've been looking & talking to other drivers & been given a lot of advice. Change the cats & rear exhaust & fit a performance filter seems to be the most common feedback, but again I'm unsure & looking for other owners personal experience. My Budget is not massive for this part of the project

Apologies for the mass of questions, I'm picking the car up on Friday & want to get ahead of the game

Cheers

Tyrone

Gundho Hack for the exhaust (by-pass the back box for under £100)

:welcome: to 911UK.

Re exhaust, if budget is tight get a pair of used rear mufflers from eBay, and mod as suggested by Alex above. Use the search function for more information.

As for the Porsche PCM2.1 head unit, you're stuck with it. No bluetooth option and the only Porsche part for iPod option is via a Porsche FM tuner. You'll perhaps want to look into installing a Mobridge or Dension unit. There are others. Search function again. :thumbs:

There is a thread where owners have replaced the HU with an aftermarket unit. As you have BOSE it will be marginally more complicated as you'll need to fit to the MOST fibre ring. This will be a good start: http://911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=99434.

There is also an option to retrofit PCM3. See monsters thread here: http://911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=100986. God only knows how he managed it as it's meant to be impossible. :worship:

As for Geo, I would highly recommend it, but would advise a specialist. Personally I would recommend Center Gravity, but they may be a little far away for you. Again, search function.

Look forward to pics on Friday. :D

Gundo HACK.

You'll feel so money supermarket.

Best budget option for these cars, only downside is it's not switchable.

As above for the rest :thumb:

Thanks for the feedback, I've contacted Cartronics GB regarding the mObridge, where can I find more information regarding the Gundo HACK?

Cheers

I had mine (when I had a 997 gen1) done here...

I also did the simple and low cost mod that really makes a gen1 sound fantastic in conjunction with an exhaust mod - a cold air induction kit such as this...
